1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. No longer allowed Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- We now do not allow political and religion threads anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section) unless Airgun related and they must be put in the Airgun related politics section..

Staff will not move posts for you if you put it in the wrong section – it will simply be deleted. You will then have to type it all out again and put it in the right place, so heed this warning.

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

In the past 4 months of owning a brand new NiteSite Viper RTEK, I've had no end of problems with it.

Has anyone else had any bad experiences with this kit?

    1. The focus wheel made the camera jump and move off-centre.

    2. The record button, didn't record.

    3. The replacement camera unit's red power/record LED keeps turning off - and doesn't always record, again!

    4. The 940nm IR quality really was very poor.

    5. The replacement IR illuminator stopped powering up.

I've had a real rant at NiteSite this evening because I've had problem after problem with their crap kit.

The more issues I have and the longer I own this kit, the more I think their warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on (I think they're swapping/repairing the units with refurbished or used parts) and I think they're using cheap and nasty parts in building their units.

I'm interested in others' thoughts and experiences with these units.

I'm also very interested in people's thoughts if they've used other kit like Yukon or ATN NV units and can compare reliability with NiteSite's stuff.

I’ve never owned one but I was looking into one... that’s until many QC threads on forums are popping up regarding their models.

Have they always been questionable or is it a recent thing?

After owning one, I'd never get a other one. For around the same price, you can get a Yukon or ATN and the footage is digital.

    I'm looking at them now.

I bought one s/h some while ago, only as the price was good.
the quality of the camera is crap & ir poor, no where near as good as my home brew with the modded T38 with a Kevgun pill & youkon lens, range 400m.
The record facility was good but a gimmick imho, the unit worked ok with no faults & quality never an issue. I have recently sold it on.

What did you get for it? If you don't mind me asking.

Did you replace it with a home build kit?

My Viper was great. It needed a new camera after a few months, but NiteSite's service under warranty was excellent and it was sent, fixed and returned in the same week. :thumb:

I tried a Photon which suits me better and I find it much easier to get on with (so I sold the Viper). It depends whether you like shooting from the chest or not - easier for a new shooter I imagine, but after nearly fifty years of shooting from my shoulder, I couldn't get used to it.

When I'm shooting at night, in some of my permissions I like the comfort of scanning from a head up position because sometimes I can be like that for some time and I also like how I can remove the kit and revert back to my standard scope.

I called NiteSite today and they just said they'll send a replacement kit next week and asked I return mine.

Excellent service! Absolutely superb. I was all geared up for a fight and the knocked the wind out if me straight away.

    Very impressive.

I know a lot of people have had the NS XX ranges, Vipers, Wolf and Eagle with no problems.

I think you're right, I think I've just got a bad unit. I never read about any serious problems with these units the year or so before I bought mine.

They are going to replace it next week so hopefully the replacement will work as expected.

Can't ask for more than that, great service, Brocock still haven't answered my email after a couple of weeks, I think I need to send another and ask if they can use nitesite for their customer service training :thumb:

    Regards
    Peter
