1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

    Hello guys

I am not a total newbie to airgun shooting as i did a fair bit of hunting 10 years ago with my long gone logan classic.
Heres my question, after being awayfrom shooting for ten years i have decided i would like to start taking out the rabbits again, a freind of mine has a big problem with rabbits digging around his lakes, i dont want to go down the pcp route again, i was thinking of perhaps a bsa lighting xl or a hw80k, im not intending on shooting every weekend again, maybe 2 days a month.
Can you help me make a decision, im torn between the 2, or maybe you have a better option.

    regard

    Rich

Its a no brainer richy its the HW80 all day long. You have the fantastic reckord trigger, accuracy that will equal most pcps in the right hands and a build quality that will last a life time and if you wish to sell it later on the secondhand market will get you more of a return than any BSA will do

    hello and welcome.
unless you want to find out how crap it is, sell it and then get the right rifle which you should have bought in the first place, avoid the XL like the plague.
as you are open to other choices, you can also look at the HW77, the HW95, the HW97K and the HW98. all are great rifles and will no doubt out perform and out live you.

    Regards

I have just spent £400 on a new 97K in 177, the scope and mounts (a hawke sport HD 3-9x50 AO mildot and sportsmatch double clamp high mounts with recoil stud) cost me £65 but might now be a different price, the buffalo river dominator case cost me £40 and two tins of super domes should have cost me £12 but I got them free.
so yes, that is a very reasonable price, especially when you consider exactly what you will be getting. I've just sold a HW80 MK1 that was older than me, it needed a bit of cosmetic work but other than that it was fine.

Hi Rich, have a look HERE and keep your eyes peeled HERE Look for an HW, break or underlever, whichever you prefer and you wont go wrong for £250 for a gun+scope :)

There is really no good reason to go out and buy a brand spanker of a rifle at the moment, if you decide its not for you your losing 20% as soon as you walk out the door...

    just my 2 bob's worth ;)

Having both the HW80, and one Brummy XL and also a Spanish XL I can tell you that the 80 is by far the better bet.

For someone who's only gonna go out twice a month id deff go down the second hand road. But if you wanna buy new then the 77 in your local shop would be the rifle of choice of me. The 77 transformed FT shooting in the 80's. And are still being made and sold 20years later. That says it all. Good luck with your search. Let us know what you decide on.
