1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Hi all, just found this amazing site, and not having had a "windbag" rifle for 30 years, thought it would be the place for me.
Spike is the name, and just moved (7 days ago !) into a new location near Selby from Harrogate, so any advice regards best shops in the area etc appreciated.
Looking for a nice second hand outfit, such as AA410 with all the add ons.
Looking forward to spending hours on here, and asking daft questions !!
    Cheers all

    Keep the faith

    Spike

Thanks for all the welcomes, I'm overwhelmed allready !
Just seen the ad for the 410, might give it a look, allthough being a newbie, a bit nervous of not knowing what I'm looking at !
Also would have prefered a "get and go" job including pump or bottle, but HEY HO, you never know.
    Thanks again for the welcomes

Thanks a million, for all the warm welcomes people, Much appreciated !
OK, now the BIG news !
Took a ride out to Swillington guns this afternoon, and Andy managed to lever my wallet open after a VERY lengthy chat and "touchy feely" demos.
So what did I buy ??
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, It may come as a suprise (it did to me, and I was THERE !!!)
Brand new AA s200 .22, Weirhrauch silencer, with Hawke 3-9x40 night-eye IR scope, bag, hand pump, and a gazzilion AA Diabalo fields !!
    Amazed??
    SO WAS I !!
    Reasons?
Ok, so I had (sort of) made my mind up on a S410, as I said earlier.
I was also contemplating two underlever springer guns as well (Can I SAY that on here without inccuring the wrath of anyone ??) to add to the mix.
HOWEVER, when I got to the shop, and Andy launched a HW97K and a TX200 at me, I nearly fell over !
BOY are those things weighty, without the scope etc !
I really was suprised, and compared to my last rifle ( a venerable BSA airsporter that I bought new in nineteen hundred and hovis bread) felt like the QE2 !!
Andy smiled the smile of "been there done that with punters before" type, and said "yep, GREAT guns, but do you want to lug them around all day??"
    So, he suggested the HW95K
I'd thought about one of those, and have to say, in the flesh, they seem light, manageable, and a good price.
BUT, my eyes kept flicking to the nice rack of pcp's to my right.
    Ooooooooooooh pretty, pretty.
    HOW MUCH ANDY !!
Ok, so I had been looking at a nice Daystate something or other.
    Back to reality.
Andy knew what I wanted the gun for, and after his long instructions before I started handling the guns, about springer vs pcp, the costs, reliabillity etc, immediately said "have a go at this"
    AA410.
    Very nice !
    "What about this then?"
    Very, VERY nice !!
    "That's a s200"
    I'M SORRY, it's a s200 ???
    "Yep".
    HELL FIRE !!
From all the mags I'd seen them in, and on the t'interweb, I thought they were tiny wee things "good for juniors and ladies" etc, etc.
b****r OFF, in the flesh, my heart just melted !
Now, bear in mind, I'm 6' 4", built like a Sherman, and sort of a rugby and beer type shape, and I was amazed.
It was light, not as small as I expected, and just felt "right".
Andy laughed again, and admitted he had one himself, and couldn't fault it.
He said they were as accurate as anything else (and better than some at many times the price) great for hunting and wandering about, and just so, so simple to use.
As simple sort of describes my point in air gun ownership, and my brain, I just fell in love more !!
He handed me the S410 again, and said "WELL?"
Well, where's MY S200 please Andy.
No, honestly folks, it really was like that.
    He tried again.
The S410, gives more shots, and looks more of a rifle.
    I don't care.
Dress me in pink, and call me Doris if you like, I WANT this gun !
    Andy laughed and agreed.
"It's better than you are for a good while, or maybe forever, and I DOUBT you'll part with it, unless you want something that does 1500 shots on one tank" he said seriously.
"Besides" he said, "you'll get 40 full power shots from this, and if you've been out hunting and shot at 40 potential kills, that's a BLOODY GOOD days hunting."
    I think he's right you know !!
Anyhoo, big waffle from me, but I was so suprised, I just had to share my happy day, so many appologies.
    OH YES.
    How does it shoot??
Got home, banged about 30 pellets through and tried to zero the scope in the rain, and - half inch groups (MOST of the time !) at 30 yards.
Boy can this gun flatter a twonk like me !!
    Hand pump?
WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT, PIECE OF CAKE !! (Sherman tank build I guess !!)
Cheers people, I may be a bit quiet for a while over the next few weeks !!!!

    Spike
