1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

If they came in at the same sort of price as the artemis stuff first did then they may be worth a look, but over £1000 is more than a hw100/air ams and even though I like some of the smk/artemis/Chinese stuff I would not pay the sort of prices quoted above (or even the prices that are being charged for the artemis stuff now)

I'd say underdog simply by the forum's response so far. :D

I can't blame them for the response regarding the pricing though as I had to do a double take on the end of the phone when I first heard about them!

Joking aside I hope they are really great and deserve the price point.
Hopefully they are natural progressors and acquit themselves well.
Personally I think all modern Air Rifle vendors are being silly with the price tags.

I had a remmington express earlier last year, it was grouping like a shotgun at 20 yards.

Don't think I'll ever be interested in that brand. My HW77K and HW98 were one hole at that distance.

PCP are another thing entirely and I've only owned one brand of PCP and so far so good.

Don't go there. I have just found out you can buy a tasteful laminate stock for the Leyla. It has gone up to £1500 here and I wasn't sure. Now at £1750 with a tasteful stock it's even more........

(Only jokin' I would never spend that much on air rifle. I felt guilt walking out of the shop with the R10.)

These look like an Remington attempt at what FX have done and there are a number of guns with AR style stocks...carbines...folding ......bullpups etc.
If it's done right and priced right then it's an option for those who dont want to lash mega money out but still want a good gun.
I'll reserve judgement for now but these smaller companies that are innovating, designing and making these new guns deserve a pat on the back for keeping this hobby fresh and giving us new options.

Until these new rifles arrive in the UK, and the build quality, function, and accuracy is assessed, there’s nothing really to be said.

Some of the responses in this thread are a bit “ crying before you are hurt “

Totally agree, but for a pitch between 1 and 1.4k, it would be nice to think that there will be no crying involved at any point.

Where are the components made? Assembled in Germany is an advantage, as is the barrel.

I understand Remington do the design work and farm the manufacturing out to SMK, BAM or other Chinese.

I know several people that have opened up Chinese manufactured and built SMKs and have been disappointed. Too much grease, not enough, sharp none de-burred edges, tool marks etc. Saying that, they work and the price is right.

Id like to see one or our members take one apart to get the true story but, can't see anyone splashing the cash!!!!!

No thanks not at that price,£1300. I could get a new R10 and have it blueprinted by John Bowkett if i chose to and still have about £300 left over for scope and mounts should i need them Without the blueprint about £500 left over and what's more there's a 2 year warranty with BSA and spares are usually and mostly readily available should i need any after the warranty has expired and and i still have the gun. J Bowkett ,i believe, also offers a lifetime warranty on his work too.
If i was to spend £1300 on an air rifle i don't think it would be what is probably a Chinese made offering, good though it may be, where spares, should they be needed, may be a problem. As i think SMK haven't got an exemplary reputation where that sort of thing is concerned especially if they don't sell and they stop importing them but i might be wrong.

Given the downswing of Remington quality in their PB rifles over the last couple years... These may little more than a stylish boat anchor( if shipped with a length of chain). The Remmy 700 was once the pinnacle of yank engineering... Sadly no more!

Er folks, SMK is no longer owned by Remington. Why do you think the Milbro brand is back?
