1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'll happily throw the Mk1 FX Wildcat into the ring as a contender. Light, well balanced, accurate, consistent, good looking, decent build quality and can be bought for very reasonable money. The MK2 adds nothing more other than the twist x barrel and interchangeable barrel liners which I think a lot of people kid themselves into thinking they'll make use, of, plus the inherent belief that MK2 of anything is always superior to its predecessor, which is what makes the Mk1 such a used bargain.

The MK2 if you can stretch to it and make use of its added facilities is also an excellent choice.

And there is also the new Dreamline Bullpup or Dreampup as some call it. I haven't tried one myself but it looks much the same as the Wildcat, has a much larger mag capacity (21 or more shots in 177) and an externally adjustable reg.

Just taken posession of a mk1 cat to accompany my Leshiy and for days when I fancy a change on a perm.
Fine rifle indeed (and I reckon mine may be a little finer than most mk1's).
It wouldn't be the choice over the Leshiy though if I could only keep one.

Its had a full rework by Airfective with lots of parts brought up to mk2 spec (linkages etc) along with rather a comprehensive tune.
Its from @Shoto1 on here and has been well reported in its transformation.

My mk1 wasn't fettled at all - just a new reg sent by FX as the other was a bit inconsistent (FOC I might add).

it was just as accurate as my impact and crown - just couldn't get a good cheek weld. I wanted to like it, but you know when its not right....its not right :D helluva rifle though.

So, after all the advice and questions about the guns involved, I called into an rfd that I pass now and again when working. It was like a little treasure trove this time around! Noticed a new fx impact mk2 on the shelf, a new fx wildcat mk2 with two stage shroud. Both .177, a used .177 mk1 wildcat, hw bullpups of both sizes and a cracking tx200. Amongst others. So, after wanting a leshiy or a Vulcan 2, I asked the guys a few questions about their stock, and walked out with the mk1 wildcat , I really shouldn’t be allowed out on my own. So for now the leshiy is off the cards, only for now though. And I’m currently having a bit play with the wildcat, had it over the chrony and it’s 11.2 with jsb exacts 8.44, happy with that, forgot how loud the floating hammer is on these when not cocked. Plus how hard the hammer seems to hit on firing, I reckon a trip to airfective for a proper sort out and a two stage shroud and I’m sorted. Gun came with a bag, Hawke fastmount 3-9x40 AO scope, though this will be sold as I’ve put my connect on it, and two tins of exacts, one mag and the fill probe. Needs the indexing arm sorting as it’s scoring the mags but it was at the right price and I needed cheering up :D

Though I’ve just been offered an fx crown for £1100, it’s so tempting! Pics below.

    After all that!

Thought you had a wildcat before and decided you didn't get on with it?

I didn’t mate, but I never thought to try different height mounts. As a kid I was always taught to get the scope as close to the barrel as possible. It didn’t work on the wildcat and I let it go. Now I know better I picked this one up in the rfd and it just felt right, plus it was cheap enough. With the connect it’s much better set up properly for me. I’ll def still be getting an fx crown. A leshiy is on the back burner now.

I’m shocking mate, how I didnt walk out with at least another one I don’t know. I can’t tell you how close it was to that mk2 impact coming home with me! I didn’t ask for a look at it as it would have done. This makes more sense, plus leaves cash towards a used crown hopefully at some point.

I handled a Wildcat and an Impact.... I own one and no real desire to buy the other any more! If you don’t want to spend the money, definitely don’t pick up an Impact.

Yep I agree, I’ve owned an impact and moved it on to fund other things. It’s a crown next for me :D

My sister has a Crown which I've used a fair bit. I'd keep my Impact over the Crown.

Each to their own mate, I like them both but am going to make the crown a stumpy carbine, I loved Tim’s when I tried it.

I know, I just saw this and thought I’d have it, no rush for a leshiy really. I just really fancied a new gun and the leshiy was favourite. Though that impact nearly came with me.
