Well i realy dont know what i was wittering on about yesterday. I think it was because the day herang me to tell me it was on its way, in responce to my asking what it was like he said its got some fiddleback on both sides. I think he was confusing my stock with some other because theris no fiddleback but its beautifuly grained but anything would be an anti climax after the one
Dr b has just aquired. Here it is as received from CS. 20190317_071634.jpg 20190317_071627.jpg 20190317_071612.jpg 20190317_071556.jpg

Thats a nice bit of wood Pete with some decent figuring and better than many CS stocks I've seen.

Its always a bit of a gamble. They'll buy blanks in bulk and will "hand select" when better grain is specified, but unlikely to be exhibition grade.
CS won't be buying exhibition grade blanks.

That will look lovely when its had a bit more Danish on it

Yes i am pleased with it. I had it made without any chequering at all as i wanted to see the wood without anything getting in the way. I know most will not agree with this and fine chequereing is the normal thing to find on a stock but I like it and I certainly dont think it makes any difference to a bench rester such as myself. The grip is fine. I normaly get rid of the butt pad but this time i am leaving it on for the time being as i just cant be arsed. I dont think I am going to start the oiling today as my pal in the next Caravan are going to St Kevern for Sunday lunch. When I start I will put pics on after say every 6 coats of Danish. I may start today as its pXXXXXg down outside. Lunch will get in the way but i should get 9 or 10 coats of oil on today. I may do it.

    Pete,

    Very nice :)

While I really, really like my TX200s CS800 stock, most beech stocks would shame it for grain :)

    Have fun & a good Sunday :)

    Best regards

Very true! Like I said previously I paid extra for nice walnut... It landed, I called them and told them it was a bland piece, I was then told that they can't even guarantee a nice piece even when I payed extra?? .. So why am I paying extra for a nice piece of nice walnut then?
It went straight back to them for a refund
And I will not use them again
