1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.'

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

seriously grumps when my kids lost there mum(8 and ten yrs old )they had bucket loads of councilling all from young just out of colege types spoke with golf balls in there gobs from well off backgrounds and new nothing of the real world which we live in.they were as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.so in my humble opinion older people who have been there done and got the tee shirt would be far better for the job than university degree dumb arses

The one thing that people have to be carefull of when doing this type of work, is not getting dragged back into the hell hole they were in before, when they got the experience to be able to do the job.

Thank you to all who made positive comments  As Jolo put it iv grown up with my black dog . Would not wish it on any decent human being . Lifetime of experience from being institutionalised at the age of 12 for 18 months . I feel no stigma attached to this issue to an extent its been a positive experience and iv seen the signs in friends and been instrumental in them seeking help and recovering . Iv not been flippant about this . As some of you may remember i lost a dear dear friend last year a week after we spent time together . I missed the signs I mis my friend . It still does not sit well . She is not the only one iv lost in this tragic way . To re enforce what others have said my councillor was a garage receptionist in her early 30s who had done a course I felt sorry for her , she was not equipped for me if id unloaded . So i think il do an evening course leading to some placements and see what its all about leaving my options open , Reckon iv got about 5 years left on the tools tops the way my body is going . im all ready looking into becoming a building inspector but think id be bored very quickly . On another note i live in rural Cumbria so would avoid a lot of the trappings of working for the NHS in urban areas , I have some experience as i volunteered for a charity called MIND for a couple of years at a drop in centre . That was no picnic . again thanks guys much appreciated , id also like to thank my friend for the ery wise words in a PM , you know who you are

Grumpyguy, how can someone who refers to themselves constantly as the third person be a realistic candidate to help others with genuine mental health issues.
Who seriously advised you to become a Councilor? Your GP or the young (30yr sprog) councillor you appear to talk about  F.F.S!

Sorry but my interest has dissolved, but then again, I don't have anyone sat in a chair directly in front of me to answer..

Reading through this thread is laughable and at the same time very sad.

Had my councilling today she went in with her boots on I left in tears. It's my 19th wedding anniversary I went in feeling quite good but she said stuff that made me think deeply about things. Boy it was a hard session but now feeling better and she was right need to stop. But no need for you lot to get my problems. But 19 years still think I'm punching well above my weight with her love her more now than then without my wife Jo I think I would be dead. Grumps I hope you get to be a councillor it's not about telling your experience it's using it to make the client face and accept their problems. My councillor only used a few words today to profound affect.

Have to say Harry Brows is almost spot on with his last post. Anyone reading your treads or posts would see a schizophrenic with  :). You would be the last person on paper I'd give an FAC to. You also feel the need to tell all how bad life has been for you and visits to the GP, medication and talking to a shrink. It all looks so bad on paper.

But I have to say with honesty if I needed to talk or remove some burden apon my shoulders, a young 30 year old with little or no life skills is not the best candidate. So a person with a wealth of experience and tragedy under there belt like your self, may well be a perfect conciller.

    Good luck in your quest.
    Andrew

Well perhaps at 2am in the morning you had nothing better to do than troll a serious thread opening a discussion amoung like minded folk to assist me in making a rather serious decision and a big thank you for all the constructive comments to my fellow members . In my younger years i would have taken offence at your reply got angry and called you every name under the sun , now i can only just be bothered to reply to you , hmm refer to myself in the third person , yes i have quirks big deal , who that is remotely interesting doesnt ? ! Im considering embarking on a poorly paid career with the sole intention of helping people through a very difficult time in there lives using my life experience and skill set .First suggested as a career path when i volunteered for Mind at there drop in centre many years ago , and yes by my GP after i did voluntary work at a care home during a brief period of unemployment after the review of my time there was sent to her . Seems i have a gift for empathy and an understanding of others problems . Also after your Very Personal and derogatory attack against me have developed a very strong dislike of you personally . I hope your next sh*te is ah hedgehog :thumb:

Schizophrenic , no little eccentric possibly , has life been bad No challenging yes , Tragedy we have all seen that the older we all get the more we see and thats a shame . Should i hold an FAC again . No reason why not i need more equipment for my growing pest control concerns and iv 27 years experience with powder burners with out one single accident . Iv met a lot of forum members in person over the last 4 years , perhaps in hindsight this discussion should have been saved for the next forum camp fire , Thank you for your Post Andrew , although we may sometimes not to see eye to eye i take it as constructive and thank you for that , regards Ben
