1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Completely on the fence on this one. In my younger days I poached and many a time I got a reprieve by some more understanding person and thankful I was too. Then again I think that in this day and age it's pretty obvious that going armed has much greater consequences than it did in yesteryear. If I found a poacher on my club think I'd like to see what his grouping was like?

They take bags with them akin to a game bag but they've never been evidenced actually with a rabbit. I too wonder if they would even be able to get in range of a rabbit and then again I wonder how many rabbits they've sent down a hole with a pellet in its back side.

Another thread that appears to have descended into petty bickering and bullying thanks to the pack mentality of some members - CJK1965 has respectfully made a valid point and didn't deserve to be jumped on in the way he has been.

Regardless of how you'd choose to handle the situation personally, I think anyone not concerned by the uninvited presence of armed youths on their land is an absolute idiot - maybe they are "just lads out for rabbits for the pot" or maybe their intentions are far more sinister.. either way it's illegal, potentially dangerous and wants sorting.

Yet again please remember we should all be able to express our thoughts freely without fear of personal attacks and ridicule. I'm getting sick of seeing the same names involved in these incidents - if certain members don't reel their necks in and learn to play nicely with everyone else, bans will be fourthcoming..

Bickering and bullying? All I said was I bet you never played pull my finger? If that's bullying then ban me! As for you calling me an idiot I must say maybe you led a more sheltered life than me and never did anything a bit naughty as you were growing up.

Yes there are concerns which are being addressed with me visiting the plot of land at the relevant times they like to show up so I can let them know it's not on. I just don't at this stage feel the need for armed response, helicopters and them being thrown in the slammer. If they fail to heed the warning then yes that will be the way to go.

My post wasn't aimed at you specifically, and no, as a youth I'd never for a second have considered trespassing on anyone else's land with an air rifle - both out of respect for them and concern for my own wellbeing.

I'm not necessarily advocating running straight to the Police, merely suggesting that anyone not concerned by armed trespassers on their land should be - in response to those trying to downplay the potential severity of the situation. Tbh it shocks me that a forum member has been jumped on for expressing similar worries.

Your choice how you handle it and we all know that the Police aren't always the best option - likewise IMO you want to watch your back in case they don't take kindly to you having a friendly word in their ear...

Guys, with my moderation hat on, I feel it necessary to make on thing very clear:

The forum cannot, and will not, be seen to condone or encourage the use of an air rifle / pistol without permission on or over any land in any circumstance. To this end, posts which fall foul of this will be removed.

I'm not trying to be overly-harsh or piddle on anyone's bonfire, but as the use of airguns is constantly under scrutiny in the UK we have a responsibility to ourselves and our fellow shooters to ensure that the forum promotes above-board use of our rifles and pistols at all times.

    Thanks,

    JRK

Jack with all due respect no one is condoning it that I can see. Just because I haven't got the arv there doesn't mean I condone it at all and neither from what I can see is anyone else.

I agree; that post is meant for everyone who might look at this thread, not just forum members. I wasn't suggesting you were condoning it - if you were, you wouldn't have placed your camera there to catch the miscreants in the act. As far as I can tell you've acted (and are planning to act) in a responsible and considerate manner.

On behalf of all GP Stealth owners, everywhere, I resent the use of the word 'Chav' to describe us. We are, at worst, misguided and prey to our own rampant enthusiasms.
