1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I have today negotiated my first permission to shoot, a local stables are having problems with rabbits digging holes in the paddocks which are a big problem if a horse puts a foot/hoof/leg 'don't want to get pulled up' down one, there are around 80 rabbits to be reduced to a reasonable number and rats in the stables and barns to completely eradicate… Awesome...:violent4:

    Medals and promotions all round.

Have at it, get yourself a good name for doing it right, and it will inevitably lead to more.

Great news, if your going to be shooting the rabbits whilst the horses remain in situ, try and go along for a couple of visits with your rifle, and just sit out in the paddocks so that the horses get use to your being there. That way, when you turn up with a view to shooting some of the rabbits, and you are less obvious to them, they wont be spooked by your presence.

Another good move that I use, if the horses are to be staying out grazing, is to enter the paddocks with a hand full of apples. That way the horses get use to the fact that when you turn up, its not to harm them in anyway. Always offer the apples away from the area that you intend shooting. If the horses then come over to bother you for more apples, just show them two open hands out stretched. They will get use to the fact that you are not a feeding station very quickly, but they will gain an early trust in you being there. Always crush the apples under your foot before offering, as this will avoid any issues with choking. And its probably best to ask the owners if they have any objections with these offerings first.

I would imagine in the early days of you shooting the owners will want the horses away prior to any shooting taking place anyway. Don't be surprised to gain other requests from friends of this yard, once you become trusted. I started with one, and now have seven, all horse community. Good luck, and be sure to come back with your progress. KB1:up:

Thanks for the support, hopefully ill get the first shoot in this Tuesday, I spent some time there late this afternoon, after six there were plenty out and about so I will start then, the burrows are along a bank and they feed in the field up to a few meters away, I am thinking of working my way along the top of the bank to shoot down onto them at around 30yrds. Thats the plan??iv got a good torch for later and for the rats..

Go for head shots only, best just behind the eye, when they are side on. You want good clean kills if your shooting close to the burrows, otherwise any runners that you get, will dart back down the holes before you get any chance of a follow up shot in order to finish them off. KB1
