OK, not knowing the facts of the case, like everybody else here, let's put the old bag of 'whatifs' to work. A bloke eating chips at the seaside is startled by a gull suddenly diving on him and clouts it, dropping it to the ground. He sees it is unfortunately crippled and rather than wringing it's neck, which not everybody is familiar with, he decides to put it quickly out of it's misery by bashing it's nut against a wall. He does this several times to be sure of the desired result. It isn't going to look pretty, but it could happen. (Probably didn't but it could have) Of course, we could always believe what is reported in the MSM, a popular choice on this forum.

Which ever way 'you choose to look at it, gargloit, not the done thing and having been found guilty and fined etc I think it's pretty safe to assume here that it was done viciously and purely out of nastiness and anger causing as much pain to the poor bird as possible resulting in its death. I'm only going to see this one way and the only other way I'm prepared to view this is that of ME smashing HIS head against a wall and see how 'he likes it.

This is what happens when man interferes with and upsets the ecosystem.

For years we (humanity) have raped the seas without mercy and the fish stocks that they feed off have dropped to virtually nothing, the Russians, Chinese and Japanese amongst others who use massive beam trawlers which report to vast processing 'mother ships' that take every living creature off the seabed which in turn kills the whole food chain, are causing these birds to starve and move inland to find food. These ships spend weeks at a time scraping up everything from the international waters around Europe and then head home.

I'm not a great fan of these scavenging birds but admire their resilience and ability to adapt and overcome like a common rat.

Firstly dear sir I have not sat there and said you don't know what you're are talking about. I have shot just about every legal quarry in England. My main shooting now is wood pigeon. You can ask "whatever damage they do is it necessary to shoot them, or any other wildlife"
Lets just agree to disagree. It's a boring existence if we all thought alike.

A little story. We live close to great Yarmouth and I like big ships. So often drive through the harbour on the way out. Anyway there's this enormous herring gull in the middle of the road and my, then, about 6 and 8 year old kids are in the back. I make a direct line for it, telling the wife and kids they always get out of the way just at the last second. I think this one's wife had left, he'd left the nest, lost his job and was on his last bottle of mad dog. He didn't flinch. BAMO, it was like a Hurricane inside Bernard Matthews plucking shed. The kids both sat there with their mouths open and I had a shed load of pacifying to do.

I now avoid them like the plague. To be fair, they keep out my way as well.

It’s all our fault animals are encroaching on humans as we have taken all their fish etc etc
It’s Not just sea gulls as nowadays most animals are getting into towns for food as we have plundered mother nature’s fridge and are turning this planet into a waste land
I pity my 5 year old granddaughter and her kids if she has any
As I think this planet has only a hundred years or so till Armageddon happens

It’s a shame that when an old lady gets battered that the scum don’t get the same treatment.
The whole country is a cluster **** in my eyes.

Vermin costs the country millions every year. These gulls require a thin out just like lots of other things in our countryside the trouble is folk are scared of the anti brigade.

And there's the issue with most of the world's problems. With parents like this knuckle dragger ( I don't know that he is or isn't a parent) is it any wonder we have kids below age of ten with knives in school?

If I go to a coastal town and sit on the sea front with a bag of chips I know the gulls are going to be dancing around me. It's like pigeons in London, foxes in most inner cities etc. Etc. Unfortunately the gull had no idea it was dancing round a total p***k that obviously had enough gumption to buy a bag of chips but then that's when his processing power ran out.
