1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

We all have to start somewhere. and there are some brilliant engineers on this forum . and what one doesn't know you can bet your bottom dollar someone else does :thumb:
I just like to show and get it out there that its not beyond our reach to make our own rifles . this is the uk and we can still build stuff . if i was in charge of AA or Daystate .Bsa .Webly the best rifle on the market would be BRITISH :thumb:

Well that's the way to do it, much like the tale of Kalashnikov doing the same from his hospital bed.
But, beware, 'The inventor of the iconic Russian Kalashnikov assault rifle apologised from his death bed about the millions of people it had killed.'

Well said that man. I've only been on here a relatively tiny amount of time but have truly had my eyes opened with so many aspects of this sport, particularly with the engineering knowhow of many here and just this particular topic of who's done a DIY.

Can i just ask why don't any of our fantastic rifle builders use the superb CZ barrels, as you have seen @1260engineer they work very well in the AGT rifles.

:D Funny you should mention warranty. the mk 1 is now about 2 and a bit years old and had at least 25.000 rounds through it . and even after a 7 month lay up . i got it out the case took it to the range and still pulled 10mm 50 yd groups . as for wearing it out ..these things will probably be floating around in space after the planet is dust . with the materials there made of :D

Hi as far as i understand it the only AA rifle with the CZ barrel is the s200 which they built with CZ. I have the Vulcan 2 Tactic like yours and an AA S510 both in 0.177 and the Vulcan i find can out shoot the S510 every time, i suppose you could say one is regulated and the other you need to shoot it the sweet spot and one is a semi bullpup the other is full length Rifle. But i still think the Vulcan2 CZ barrel is better. I suppose the only way to tell would for @1260engineer to swop his CZ barrel into his space rifle but that is a bit drastic i think, hope you are all well Graham.

    Morning Graham :thumb:
Barrels are a funny thing . ive had all sorts of barrels over the years . Ive had so called bad barrels as per someone else's opinion that have turned out to be brilliant . and had so call top draw barrels that wouldent hit the side of a barn if you were stood in it.
ive found through the stuff i do that the package is the key . from the way the charge is delivered from the EV to the transfere and from the transfere to the breech . even the way the charge is delivered to the skirt of the pellet makes a difference to the way the pellet interfaces with the rifling. when i first went to LW poly barrels there was the whole bit they don't work well with sub 12 . what a load of boll aches .. i found them much less fussy and didn't need cleaning as much . the other thing i noticed was cutting crowns and leads is much easier as the are one lands and fields . which helps with the end result . accuracy . ive run lead through them from 550 fps up to 1700 fps in 177 and the results were outstanding .
with the CZ barrel on the Vulcan i get out of the box target rifle spec groups . im sure its down to the rifle package . the way it delivers . the engineering around the barrel is very well designed . i really can't fault it there is nothing i would change . this might sound strange.. but it feels almost as i had built it .. it makes me feel happy and confident . it just works like no other rifle ive had out of a box .

Because of the complexity of creating a barrel with effective rifling, (at least one that could be used with off the shelf rounds, I resorted to building something akin to a crossbow - but not quite - in the early 80's with some degree of success.

I did get rather good with scissor moulds, once the darts that I borrowed from the Union bar had run out. Best performance was in the region of 75ft/lbs, but the accuracy came up short.
