1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

    90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

    Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

    As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

    The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

    This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

    In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

    You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

    Hello,

    I'm searching a new PCP Airgun for shooting up to 150m distance, it would be my first PCB as i had only an old Gamo GFX and HW35 in the past;
    Main focus is targets, but also used for hunting up to 50m max.

    I researched a bit and found following models where i need some help in choosing the right one - also if .177 or .22

    Air Arms S510 Xtra FAC
    Daystate AirWolf
    Weihrauch HW100 FAC
    Daystate Huntsman
    Evanix Hunting Master AR6
    Hatsan BT65 QE Air Rifle

    I know these are two different things .177 are best for targets and .22 for hunting but wonder if i can do both with one instead having two Airguns;
    Also there is an Weihrauch HW100 .20 version available - maybe it's the cal. in the middle who fits best for both?

    It should have a multishoot magazine and adjustable power to not blow the pellets out with full power when shooting in lower distances (25m, 50m)

    If anyone can give me answeres helping me making the decision easier would be very appriciated;

    thx,
    screenie

    It's not April the 1st is it? To shoot accurately out to 150 meters you are going to need more than an air rifle mate.

    If you mean the FAC license - i'm from Austria, we don't need something like this here;
    You must be over 18y old and the bullet must be under 6mm, no joule limit;

    hello, if you are fortunate not to have any joule limit first i would change your thread heading to, WHAT fac air rifle do you recommend, then it is a matter of what suites you eg, calibre, shots per charge, cost, weight, etc and most important what fits nice in the shoulder. i dont know about adjustable power rifle, the FX verminator has this but dont know if in FAC, anyway welcome its a good forum with much help and advice

    I saw a guy last year who did 100m with groupings under 4cm but have no idea which model he had;
    There are several youtube videos out there with more than 150m but i would be more interestest in personal meanings than looking those videos;
    Most people here shoot 25m because most of them buy the air rifles in Germany where they have a 7,5 joule limit generally - also for the shooting areas (except you have a FAC) but they are way cheaper than in Austria;

    My friends and i are now shooting 50m but want to go up step by step with 75m, 100m, ... and see if we can go up to 150m

    I can't offer any advice on the choice of rifle, some will have power adjusters and you can check this at the makers website. A .22 will perform better than a .177 at high power levels as you can maintain high power levels but still keep the pellets travelling at subsonic velocities. A .22 pellet will also be more efficient (in general) ballistically so will be less affected by wind and will retain a higher percentage of velocity and power at longer ranges. If you can find the right pellet you should be able to enjoy your shooting at 150m.

    Being on the same "no power restrictions" boat, here is whar I think:

    If you want externaly adjustable power, the only solutions are the AA510 and the Airwolf MVT

    Air Arms S510 Xtra FAC - Excellent up to 200 meters in 0.22cal. with decent shot count of abt 60 shots at full power (35lbft).

    Daystate AirWolf - As above for double the cost, but with better shot count due to the buddy bottle.

    Weihrauch HW100 FAC - At full power (28-30 lbft) very limited autonomy (abt 40 shots unless you extend the air cylinder).

    Daystate Huntsman - You need to consider the XL model but yet again, as above and even worse (just 3 magazines i.e. 30 shots at 35 lbft)

    Evanix Hunting Master AR6 - No opinion

    Hatsan BT65 QE Air Rifle - Some guns are reported to be very accurate. Air consuprion could be better and quality also. However is considered a good value for money choice, provided the owner is willing to improve some things.

    A fellow shooter has done extensive tests on his 0.20 cal. HW100 with very good results up to 100 meters. This cal offers some trajectory advantages but you will have the limitations of pellet choices in case your barrel will prove pellet fussy.

    Having been the owner of the first four, my personal favourite is the AA S510 Xfac in 0.22.

    Thanks npmair for this excellent comparison - AA S510 with up to 200m is more than i expected... sounds great !

    a.22 running at 40 ft/lbs @ 150-200 yds/mtrs will still have a loopier trajectory than a loopy thing.
