1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

    Silencers, suppressors, moderators, cans!

Let's talk about them. The ones you've owned, used etc. The best value, the BEST, the bad, the modern, the old, the big and the small!

I've owned a login model and a HW model, both were great quailty and brought the noise right down, aswell as changed the signature.

But I'm gona buy a new one soon for crosman 1377 pistol and I'd like to refresh what I think I know about them. I'd like a short to medium length one. And I'm curious to what the short ones are like compared to the big ones!

And are the lightweight plastic/fibre ones any good?

    Thanks for any input!

    Cheers,

    Samon.

Best value, deben whisper but the best off the shelf performance is a Hogun Decimeator or a HW in my opinion.

I'm no expert on silencers, but in my experience I had a whisper 130 on my s400 and was ok.then I put a hw on it and it was a little longer but really quiet.at the last meeting at the target club a member had the hw on his crossman 2240 and it was very very quiet.my boy has a standard 2240 and its a lot louder! I have heard good things of matty on here's custom jobs too.good luck jw

ive had all sorts. weihrauch, marksman, hogun, custom carbon mods and at the minute ive got a custom reflex mod that is unreal quiet. off the shelf you wont beat a weihrauch mod. although the marksman and hogun mods are also very good!

I've had plenty of a silencers and what I found was what worked really well on one rifle didn't do that well on another.

    But

Overall good ones off the shelf are hw, twink, hogan

Hugget same class as above but more money

    Bad bsa ultra silencer

Custom build dmx and plenty of carbon shrouds are good

Twink X3 has been the best off the shelf but massive

Blodnob shroud and a Nutshot shroud take some beating and rate them the best I've had

Have used the Daystate Airstream and the Weihrauch. The Weihrauch beats it hands down.

I have had a HW, one of mattw's both worked great but the best one is the Hogan DecimEator i have now, almost makes my Mk4 silent.

On my Airarms I've had the standard slip on AA which is OK but poor in comparison to others. I also had a slip on Logun which was quite good.

Quietest gun I had was an Airwolf with a baffled shroud in conjunction with a airstream reflex mod. Mouses fart territory!:D

I have a full Hugget shroud and mod on my HW100, it's quiet, but I was expecting more.

I've had Twink Mark two's, HW's and hugget mods. All pretty much equal IMO and very good at noise suppression.

My mate had a whopper made by Matt and it beat them all on his HW100. Good price and lightweight as it's Delrin I believe.

For me the best value has to go to the Parker Hale mm1 even after a nuclear holocost i recon it would be unscathed as they are vurtualy indestructable, the qiuetest one i have used well rephrase that borrowed was a hogun decimeter the HW's are good but this was better.

The HW is the quietest one I have, although all this talk of the Hogan is making me think I should investigate further.

The Swift stumpy is also quiet, One of Matt's slip on for the S410 works well. I have just bought a Deben Whisper, so keen to find out how that compares to the Swift.

Wasn't that impressed with the BSA VC - stripped it and added the green scourers, which made it better, but not as good as the Stumpy or the HW.

Overall right now, the HW takes it....

    Thanks
    Tim

Had one from UKNeil , very good .
but the best one I have at the moment is calibre specific ( .177 ) made by Roedale in Germany , a bit pricy , but it of the very compact style , looks the nuts as well.

Had the BSA VC on my bull barrel R10 too. Didn't rate it as highly as the HW Twink etc.

According to our well respected local gun shop, this new Airarms q-tech is a world beater. Not read enough reviews to back this claim as yet though, so the jury is still out.
