1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Thugs, hooligans have left dead crows on Packham's gate

This is making me want to quit shooting after 43 years. I can't be bug@ered about with paper punching.
I'll see what happens next week so may list my Ultra & R10 in the For Sale section.
Really sorry to promote yet another thread on Pri@k Packham. I hope you'll forgive me.

Sometimes, when I hear about this sort of thing, I can't help wondering if the "victim" is possibly involved with the "crime." I'm probably wrong but ...

I'm not saying he is involved, there's plenty who hate him enough to do it but I'd have thought most TV "stars" would at least have some sort of CCTV that would put many people off doing this. It probably was his haters but there's a chance it's down to people on his side to earn some victim status for him & make the other side look bad. Classic propaganda, maybe ? You just don't know.

Disgusting, pathetic, vile inbred activity and all one has come to expect of the UK since 2016 ..... And no he has not done this himself, what an utterly ludicrous comment imo.

Chris Packham is an intelligent educated man, with intelligent educated friends .... Which sums it up nicely.

It strikes me if some people are upset; then go find the judge, find the solicitors, visit parliament and attack the law makers ... All Wild Justice did was point out the breaching of a law. They did not create one. Just had an existing law adhered to, to my understanding. Nothing more.

Maybe if the upset people used their IQ, their education and their solicitors, rather than this sort of terrorism there would be less issues.

Threats and violence achieve nothing but determination.

@Mr Man makes a valid point.

In the eyes of the public, that type of protest isn't going to help one bit.

Hanging dead crows on Packham's gate was the wrong way to go as are any personal attacks because by doing so we are playing into the anti's hands - the whole thrust of this battle at the moment is who holds the moral high ground. We need to demolish their arguments with reason and logic and avoid personal and emotive confrontations. Most of all I think we need to reclaim our image and show that what motivates us is a deep love for the countryside mitigated by the understanding that it is not actually a natural space in most of the UK and needs our participation to thrive. We also need to reclaim our image as shooters and show that we are the real "gun culture" and are an important and valuable part of society because unfortunately we are up against well educated but ignorant and easily scared people who think we are just men with guns who want to kill things.

A brainless act that further fuels the anti-hunting side and makes us look like inbred idiots.
Whoever did it is a bigger prat than the guy they did it to

I'll also add that this feels like a major body blow to the hunters here particularly the way it came out of the blue and it is perfectly human to feel angry, disappointed shocked etc and to want to vent and let off steam about it. I don't think any hunter here wants these threads to run out of control but it's only to be expected that they might run a bit hotter than normal.

Out of this forum theirs is very very few that this act will affect, and any that shoot a lot of the vermin that this affects will have no problem getting a GL , soo I just can’t see why all the fuss, yes the guy is a knob and really know f all about the real country side but that just like all the other lefty townies that move in and try too change the country side to suit themselves.
Yes we do still need to fight things like this but not that way :(

Thanks. I better stress that there's only a small chance that it was someone on the same side as Packham. These sort of things do happen, rarely, but it does.

Can't help wondering how someone could find out where he lives though. Especially if this was a shooter reacting to this latest thing, that just happened a couple of days ago. Whoever did it, the damage is done now though & I agree with the others who've said it's wrong.

He's a bloody hypocrite, he has confessed in his autobiography that he used to take birds eggs from nests and even a young kestrel ( if I remember correctly) amongst other things that most of us never entertained doing in our youth. Now to ease his own feelings of guilt he wants to stop what is often quite vital in the farming community, crop and stock protection.
While the act of putting dead birds on his gate is just daft I can see that someone near him just wanted to say Fu** YOU! but could not do it in person for fear of clumping him one.
The Sky news report I read did mention that over 82,000 people have signed a Petition for the BBC to sack him for impartiality failings, by way of balancing their reportage.:D

Apparently he isn't happy with the fact that his address has been put on the internet . I decided to be nosey and see where he lives. It took me about two minutes to find his address. Strangely enough I found it on a government website.

The registered office of a limited company is public information.

If you register a company called Chris Packham Ltd what do you expect, surely he's not that daft.

In 2009 he stated that the giant panda should be left to die out & become extinct, simply so funds could be diverted to other animal project's!
