1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

As some of you will be aware, I recently purchased my first ever PCP, new out of its box, was shooting 10.7 foot pounds, after a tin of pellets, appeared to settle at just under 11 foot pounds, now after almost 2 tins of pellets, it has risen to 11.3 foot pounds, no change of pellets from new, just wondered if this is normal for a PCP, from new. Thank's. Bob.

It's normal with springers, sometimes the power will increase then settle down and drop a little and plateau, this may also be the case with PCP's too but not totally sure.

Like any new machine bob there is a running in period all surfaces are just wearing in, it will settle down at a point to keep and eye on it.

And if your sticking to the same pellet the barrel is just leading up and in my experience if you stick with the same ammo for hundreds of shots the accuracy and power may raise a little,

    What gun is it?

Because if its regged then that's different you could be getting reg creep.

Just a bog standard BSA Ultra SE .177, not regulated. I must say I am pleased with the gun, so accurate, and a pleasure to shoot, was just wondering if the power increase was normal for a new PCP.

I would normally expect a pcp to have bedded in by the time 500 pellets had been put through it, although over on the AAOC forum they recommend anything up to two tins before settling down.

Yes Bob, my Scorpion SE settled down after about 200 shots. Now firing straight and true.

Are you always checking at the same fill pressure as remember an unregulated gun will have a power curver i.e you will have more power at 140bar then at 200bar.
Its boring but i would write down a shoot string over the chrono and then again after 1-2 tins of pellets, to get a true understanding of whats going on.

But power can go up with things bedding in like the hammer, springs and valve.

Filled to 200 bar, shot 30 pellets throu crono, recording each reading, then averaged, have done this four times, once when new, then after 1 tin of pellets, then after 2 tins, just done another string after another half tin, looks to have settled at 11.3 foot pounds. Now for some target practice, before I have a go any rabbits etc. Atb, Bob.

As I only hunt I don't have an issue with shot count, and the power output appears to have settled down without too much variation between shots, so think I will leave it un regulated for now, but may have it done at a later date. I would like say thank you to you, and all the others, who have taken the time to reply to my question. Atb to all, Bob.
