1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

I tried three shops on Wednesday and none of them had a used .177. Loads of 22's. That's why I put a wanted add on here.

Maybe they just prefer and easy life of shooting haha i personally prefer my .22 , nothing like the thrill of a head shot at 45 yards after taking into account your major drop in trajectory !

Must be the price hike in .22 pellets forcing airgunners to go for the less expensive .177.I have two .22 rifles which i very rarely use unless something requires an extra clubbing that my .177 can't deliver, which i haven't come across yet.

The truth of the matter is , both cals have weaknesses and stregnths , all depends on who and what you prefer , enjoy , and are most accurate at shooting :) i have a .22 that has seen a fair share of both Fur and Feather :) both cals will dispatch of verming regardless, they just have different attributes and a different style to enforce them :)

but having said all this ...

.22 is win in my eyes :D ( oh . iv opened the can of worms labelled "do NOT open" :p

have people finally seen the light?
I said 8 years ago that 177 would eventually be the way forward and my mates all thought I was mad.

My choice (177) is to suit the discipline I shoot (HFT). If I ever returned to hunting then the 22 would suit me better.

Well unsure of all this .22 versus 177 nonsense, i have a bsa superstar in 177 that is amazingly accurate and never fails to amaze me. In fact im struggling to find a scope good enough. Alternatively i have a mercury s in .22 with a battered tasco 2-7x32 and its crazy accurate. Easily an equal to the superstar but a break barrel and in the less accurate calibre.
the two most accurate springers ive shot though is my old hw97k in .22 and my mates tuned 177 version. Nothing to choose between them as far as accuracy is concerned.
the bottom line is if it shoots sweet in your hands i dont care what calibre it is.

Ive shot both. my 77 is great in .22, pellets carry loads of wack down range & thats good for hunting ... but that extra fps of .177 the 95 has and old guns i used to shoot like lightnings etc wins it for me. I started with .177 think just have natural preferance.

Its like Spring vs PCP or like Petrol vs Diesel, I prefer Petrol (puts hairs on your chest) :D
If you have fat fingers like me .22 is easier to pick up.... But both .177 & .22 are great, I have noticed when shooting .177 at my local target club the crosswind affects it slightly less than.22, anyone else notice that?
