1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Yep. I wouldn't pay the price of a ticket to watch overpaid actors prancing about.

In my defence I played rugby.

I like watching the 1970s matches on youtube. I like the history, the sound, the commentary styles and the general roughness and grittyness of the times.
Cant stand one second of the modern game and im genuinely saddened by it.
    I like having a kick around though.:thumb:

Probably, still watch it occasionally though. :)
But then again I will watch pretty much ANY sport.... :D
When we were away for a few days on the South Coast last week, we drove to Beechy head, (just cos we had time and we've never been, now been there, done that, etc) then we had a pint in the pub, then on the drive back, we passed a small village green, and they were playing cricket, it was a lovely afternoon, not too hot, so we stopped, parked up and sat on a bench, sat quietly watching the game... Now I'm not a massive Cricket fan, I know the basics of the game and I watch the Ashes and thats about it..... We sat there for about an hour and it was one of the nicest hours of my life, very relaxing, just sitting there, chilling, they were just a local team, just having fun more than being competitive....But thats sport, it can take you away to another world.... :thumb:

I find the amount they are paid offensive when I see them rolling around like they’ve been shot.

The only thing I do like about football ( apart from cantona Kung fu kicks on gobsh1tes ), are Klopp memes. He’s got a great repertoire of funny faces o_O

Yes, and footballers the most overpaid bunch of thickos as far as I can tell. Look at it this way: most of these lads are from working-class, 'blue collar' if you prefer, backgrounds whose employment prospects would, in all likelihood, be a trade job (builder, plasterer, van driver etc.) who would be glad to earn a decent wage to do a job they don't necessarily enjoy for 40 hours per week with a 'foreigner' on the weekend. Is it really necessary to pay the (sometimes) astronomical sums doled out to them to keep fit and play football a couple of times a week? If all their salaries were reduced by 90% they would still be doing better than most of us, I'll bet. That might stop some of their shenanigans with the gold-digging strumpets who are drawn to the smell of cash and testosterone. I suspect that the huge salaries are more their greedy agents and managers doing than theirs, though.

Whoo! I feel better for that!

The problem is it’s a competitive market, and the best will always demand the top money. It’s escalated beyond all proportion now, with eye watering wages and transfer fees.
But if the fans are willing to pay it for seats, or premium tv services, then that’s up to them.

What’s always tickled me about football is the way the fans go on in hindsight about how the game should have been played. I hear blokes going on at work like they can do a better job of it than the ex player / managers.

I doubt that the fans have given the green-light to stratospheric wages and transfer fees. They have just gone along with paying the eye-watering prices to see their religious rites enacted. Find me one person who is actually happy to spend that kind of money week in, week out to be disappointed most of the time.

There is a guy at my work who is constantly criticising the line-up of his team and the deplorable split-second decisions they make during the game which cost a victory.

Market prices are driven by market forces - no club manager wants to pay what the top players costs but that's how it is.

You got a point there !

Before I did any bar work I knew next to nothing about football. After a few months I was amazed how much I understood when the punters were moaning about it.

I've just noticed the OP's location is NY.

Over there our football is referred to as soccer. So does the OP mean his football or ours ? lol
