1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Hello,

This is mainly me introducing myself to the forum.

I have been shooting airguns for a little under 2 years now and thoroughly enjoy it.

I have used this forum so many times when researching and looking for solutions and ideas and though it was time i used the forum more than i have done in the past.

I initially decided to start shooting Airguns as a hobby for "just me", however, my young children now love the idea so i have also purchased them some small, very low power air soft pistols for them to "be involved" (supervised of course) until they are old enough to shoot.

I have an SMK SYNXS .22 break barrel, which was my first gun as i didn't want to spend too much unless i enjoyed the experience.
I did enjoy it, so i ended up spending a little more money after this one, but i still enjoy shooting this one every now and a gain.

i then bought a Hatsan Striker Edge break barrel, which is great to practice with and try to get good groups while also trying to be stable with the recoil.
I am not there yet, but I'm enjoying learning.
Any advice on how to get better at that would be gratefully received.

Fast foward a few months, I bought a couple of pistols to plink with too.
A Beeman P17, the decision to buy was greatly influenced by threads on this forum so a thank you is in order.
It's a great gun and very accurate.
A mainly shoot it at 4cm fly away steel targets and some spinners.
I will start to punch paper with this soon and see if I am accurate as the steel targets make me believe i am

I also bought a CO2 Colt Python (polymer) which is great fun to shoot in single and double action. i am very much less accurate in double action.
It shoots pellets and BB's but I do prefer shooting pellets as I am not a great fan of the ricochet of the BBs.

I built my own own pellet traps so when I do shoot BBs, I use those and only shoot directly in to my garage... Which makes me feel safer as I know nothing will ricochet over my fence into my neighbours garden.

After having fun with he CO2 pistol, i decided to buy a budget CO2 rifle to see how i got along and i bought a Crosman 1077.
this is a great, fun little rifle and is very accurate (although i have really shot it past 10 metres).
I have had this rifle for a little over a year and it has just recently stopped working properly and i find myself in a position of deciding whether to take it get fixed or use it as a project to learn about the internal of an airgun.

My most recent rifle, which I received as a birthday gift, is an SMK PR900W PCP.
I have to admit, this has quickly become my favourite rifle.
It has limited shots, but takes such little time to refill with a hand pump, that i don't mind. And any exercise is good i guess.
For what i will use it for, i didn't want anything that was too expensive and i am lucky enough to have about 23 metres to shoot in in my back garden.

I built a small shed at the back of my garden, which has a thick backstop wall to ensure nothing can get past it.
I built a stand to hang targets on to, built a makeshift shooting tree target and bought some steel targets to place around which i found on ebay.
Over the last two years, i seem to be increasing the targets i have in that shed.

Overall, i am enjoying the sport and it s a great way to have some "me time" while doing something fun.

I wanted to start asking on the forum soon, but didn't want to do that without first having taken the time to put on a little about me and my journey.

I still consider myself to be a beginner as time to shoot is always an issue with a young family, and i can only get better with experience... I hope.

Apologies for how long this post is.

    Thanks for reading.

    J.
