1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    And now this:

"At this point in time, as of today, there is not enormous pressure on critical care compared to a bad or even normal winter's day,"

He told the committee that the latest research suggested as many as half to two-thirds of deaths from coronavirus might have happened this year anyway, because most fatalities were among people at the end of their lives or with other health conditions. :frusty:

Paul, you need to stop watching the news intermittently mate :)

Last week the question was asked during the daily briefing about the forecast of the 20,000 deaths expected. It was answered that each winter / year (can't remember which) 500,000 people die from all causes and that the 20,000 was the number that was expected to be partly attributed to covid19.

In other words, 20,000 of those who will die anyway normally / naturally will be assisted / speeded on their way by covid19.

It is accepted fact (from memory) that 8,000 die from seasonal flu and these are not included within the 500,000 normal deaths each year but the 20,000 in this case are included.

A strange way to count the figures but that's how the question was answered by CMO.

They're looping most of it for 24 hrs because there isn't a lot of fresh news to pack out the length of news bulletins.

Try not to listen to the inane questions they keep asking politicians as well, as if the question poser is speaking for the nation rather than Mrs Jones from Surrey who read something on the internet

They said this on the bulletin yesterday.
So why the mass panic and massive change to laws?
There's definitely something else going on o_O

This thread has got me thinking (there's a novelty I hear you say). Last December, I was really crap. Major breathing difficulties, but mainly when moving around. My GP referred me back to the chest clinic at the hospital. Two years ago, tests showed pulmonary emphysema and they wanted to put me on ambulatory oxygen. I refused it as I thought it may be as much of an hindrance as a help. I digress. In December I went to the hospital and on initial examination, my saturated oxygen levels were only 74%. (they are not normally that low. 90% is about my average at rest, dropping like a stone when being active). They rushed me down for some scans and arranged for me to be tested to see what rate of oxygen I would need. I'm on 6 litres a minute at present, both ambulatory and through an oxygen concentrator in the house when I need it. At the time I had a pretty persistent, but spasmodic, cough. Not what you could call productive, but after so long, I could feel like it dislodged something and all would be well for a while. This cough has persisted until the last couple of weeks and now I barely cough at all. In truth I feel better on myself than I have done for a long while.

I'm not saying that I had cv19, but it certainly makes you wonder.

The risk this article poses is that someone who caught a cold or flu in the last few months reads it, thinks "Hey, I've had the virus, I'm immune!", and decides there's no need to self-isolate. Even worse, imagine what would happen if someone decides this, and thinks that it would be a good idea to use their newly discovered 'immunity' to visit and cheer up all of their vulnerable relatives and neighbours, possibly after having just caught the real virus. Several people have already had to be firmly dissuaded from doing just this.

This is very valid point. However
Iam still confused whether everbody with a temperature and flu like symptoms is now lumped into the Corona Virus pot around the world.
Equally are deaths conveniently being lumped into this virus’ sum total. Where are all the normal flu death statistics?

Individual's who have flu, who have not been tested for corona will probably think they have it, with so many variables you can understand governments taking extreme measures, even if it turns out to be less deadly than many thought, it is better to take precautions even if not needed than to take no precautions when needed.

I am very interested to see how the laid back American solution works out.
That should be the proof of over or under reaction paying dividends. Interesting times.
The closed loop Cruise liner stats must be very valuable too

No. Only cases confirmed by testing make it onto the coronavirus list, either for infections or fatalities.

But now they are only testing ones they expect to be positive in high dependancy units so they can increase the mortality rate and keep us all scared.
Last week on Friday a large number of staff were tested and when the results came in and there weren't many positive results they stopped the staff tests and are now only doing the tests in itu.

Those of us "of a certain age" who were at school during a more disciplined era will probably have a more cautious approach. . Namely, if you were caned yesterday, it definitely does not give you immunity from being caned again tomorrow.
