1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

This morning I took my Spaniel and a friends dog a Jack Russell out for a walk along the river Wylye like I do most mornings when I'm on nights. Its a public footpath but is out of the way and you rarely see anybody else. Tess my mates dog dissapeared into the undergrowth along with Maisey my dog chasing the pheasants and partridge that frequent the area. Maisey appeared several moments later but without Tess, unusual i thought so i gave a couple of blasts on the dog whistle which they obey religously, still no sign of Tess so i decide to go into this small copse to find her.
Imagine my horror when i find her with this snare wrapped around her neck, i quickly released her and took the snare down and luckily she is fine. Do these retards not realise the damage these things can do to animals and the suffering they can cause. Its obviously been designed to catch a fox due to the thickness of the wire they have used. Got a good mind to sit up on the area for a few hours and teach the ***** a lesson he wont forget.

Unfortunately that's probably right, the law works against law-abiding folk - and I'm saying that as a solicitor!

You could wait there with a camera though and take the police pictures of whoever it is...

I wouldn't harm them but I'd frighten the **** out of them. More than one way to skin a cat as they say.

Id like to think a gamekeeper would have more sense than to be laying snares on the edge of a public footpath. There are no shoots or private game rearing for miles. Whoever set this is an idiot.

Could be poachers or a game keeper as said. Could be kids trying to catch something. I use to set snares when I was a kid trying to catch rabbits from the farmers fields. If the snare was off the footpath and on private land I suppose it could be argued you should keep your dogs on the lead and off private land. Glad the dogs ok anyway atb

Wait and take pictures as already stated, then threaten them with the police.

Taking some pics is a good idea, will definitely sit up on the area later in the week when I've calmed down a little.

That is a legal fox snare.
To be fair the footpath is three feet wide and the dogs should not be in the bushes in the small wood.
Whoever owns or rents the shooting on the land has a legal right to set a snare there.

If there are game birds around this time of year you can bet your bottom dollar they have been released on the land.

A gamekeeper has probably set a snare there. A little closer to the public than normal and not really within the code of practice but perfectly allowed in law if he wishes.
If he is losing birds to foxes in that place he will probably snare there and think the public should control their dogs. You have broken the law by removing the snare.
    Cheers Andy

Got to agree on this one; you have a duty to keep your dog under control & on the public footpath.

It could be even worse, ie landowner/game keeper, with shotgun, protecting live stock, the dog could end up dead. they should be on a leash. But glad the dog is OK. Bob.
