1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

HFT I've been milling it over for a few months, now I would like to give ago but not sure where to start.
Now I know nothing about it other than you shoot steel targets at different distances with varying size holes. But others than that I'm in the dark.

Can I shoot it for fun at a club.
Can I just go and shoot a competition anywhere or do I have to join a club.
Do I have to comitt to every competition as can't alway do weekends.
Is it really serious stuff where there's no fun involved.
Is it a solo sport or a team event.
Will this Rapid 7 i bought last year work to see if I like HFT.

    Andrew.

you are quite near Coventry so you could pop over to the Greyhound Gun Club in Cov and pay £4 and have a bash at their HFT course (and all the other ranges while you are there!)

You could try Kibworth Shooting Club. An excellent club with fantastic facilities. I have shot HFT there as a guest many times. You can join or not, it does not matter. They have regular HFT shoots there and they are as fun or as serious as you make them. Yes you can shoot with your Rapid but you will need to remove your magazine after every shot.. See here: http://kibworthhft.weebly.com/ http://www.kibworthshootingground.co.uk/air_rifle.html

    Hope this helps you.
    regards

Here are the general rules Andrew https://sites.google.com/site/ukahft/2013-rules
As for it being serious, if you have got any sort of competitive streak in you, you will keep wanting to beat your previous score. Then you will want to beat the bloke your'e shooting with & so on. Having said that most have a good crack while they are doing it, Oh & it gets addictive.
As Andy said, Kibworth is closest to you & last year they had fortnightly competitions, The Marksman & The Open, plus plinking ranges.
I'm not sure what arrangements they have for going around the course on non competition days, I believe that if the safety officer is there then you can use the course but you would need to check that.
    Enjoy. atb Nick

There are two localish competitions coming up that might be of interest. The Daystate Midland Hunter Series will be at Cosford (next Sunday) and Kibworth in Feb or March. A few of the members on here will be present at both including me. I will be there for less than serious purposes having put in two rubbish scores already. If you want to pair up with me Andrew I will be more than glad to go around with you to show you the ropes. Your rifle is perfectly capable of dropping the targets as the next mans gun. I can arrange the groupings with the organisers if you fancy a crack.

Next Sunday won't work as I'm in Scotland and I need to find a single shot tray for my rifle.

So kibworth might be easier as its only 30 odd minutes from me and Steve I'd would do a round at the greyhound.
So I'll give it a go now I've out a thread up, no backing out.
SteveO and milek I'll pm you shortly

Can I shoot it for fun at a club. yes
Can I just go and shoot a competition anywhere or do I have to join a club. You don't have to join any club, you can pay and shoot on the day
Do I have to commit to every competition as can't alway do weekends. Nope, you can go when-ever you want. Some series' have 6 rounds and if you want to qualify/ enter your total score; you will have to complete a minimum of 4/6 rounds.
Is it really serious stuff where there's no fun involved. Nope, it's loads of fun and everyone always has a good laugh. Some are serious about competing in the sport, but they are there to have fun and will surely help you out and teach you a few things.
Is it a solo sport or a team event. In events such as the World championships, there is manufacturer teams (AA, Bsa, Steyr ect) and country teams. However, most competitors will enter solo.
Will this Rapid 7 i bought last year work to see if I like HFT. Yes it'll do very nicely indeed. Nice stock by the way :).

What ever you do, have fun and shoot safely. We are always happy to have a new shooter on the circuit,

    Alex:up:.
