1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

So if you don't really use your rifle or "weapon" as they like to call it, you might not bother to apply.
So why would you surrender it to the police when you can sell it or give it away to someone befor December
I wonder what it will do to the second hand gun market and prices then, especially in November... ?

I suppose it's not too bad. The licence seems to be pretty easy to acquire, but that doesn't change the fact that it's completely unnecessary!

    Well said!

I'm surprised this hasn't been highlighted earlier by opponents of this stupid legislation.

Surely this it is an infringement of your European Human Rights and compensation should be payable.

This kind of sets a precedent for the whole of the UK and no doubt there are already pressure groups trying to introduce this to England. I'm a member of a club so presumably could get a licence but where does it leave back garden shooting? I know that alone is not a reason to get the licence but once you have a licence could you still do it?

the problem with this law is that we as responsible people are going to get TAXED to go and pursue our hobby.

the NEDS that this law/TAX is aimed at will only tar the responsible shooters with the same brush.

Our laws already cover misuse of an air rifle.

I think it is life imprisonment for shooting somebody with one.

This is just blatant tax collection disguised as licensing.

According to this www.airweapon.scot they will judge shooting in your garden on a case by case basis (that could take some time).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-36336837 according to this, the Scottish government ran a public consultation in 2013 about the new laws, 87% of respondents said it was heavy handed and draconian, but the Government ignored the publics opinion and carried on regardless, so much for politicians working for their electorate.

the thing i see is, ok the license is only the cost of a few tins of pellets £70, but its not going to stop idiots owning air rifles illegaly

Of course these incidents are breaches of existing laws, possibly manslaughter and assault/ABH/GBH which potentially carry much heavier penalties than possession of an unlicensed air gun, there are already laws covering every act of stupidity with an air gun and these don't stop them happening so there is no logical reason to think that licensing will have any beneficial effect.

Will people granted a licence still be restricted to sub 12? If not then maybe there's some good to come out of it.

the licence is just for sub12, fac still applies for anything above:)

but you don't need to apply for the sub12 if you have a fac.

All left wing parties and their supporters have a visceral dislike of all types of guns.

And believe that the electorate are naughty children, and that government knows best.

I had to get rid of my guns when a socialist president was voted in in Peru.

The SNP is a very left wing party.

Once it has screwed up big time, as all socialist parties do, you will be able to vote it out.

Unfortunately the damage will have been done, and you will have lost a lot of money on your guns.

As one who has been in the same position, I really sympathise with you.

I advise you to vote UKIP in future. They are the only ones who will leave gun owners alone. You definitely can't trust the Tories, because they are really liberals.

And liberals' like socialists, believe the state knows best and that you are a very naughty boy who can't be trusted.

    Scotland's new law

    Hi

this just appeared on my Facebook feed.

    https://www.facebook.com/PoliceScotland/videos/1016401448442274/

of course im going to give away 3 grands worth of guns.

cant believe that they are posting all these videos but the government doesn't even know how much to charge.

87% of the people asked if this law should go ahead said it was a bad idea.

    The government went ahead anyway.

    rant over
