1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

The 80 hasn't been shot for a while the reason being I had trouble feeding it with the right ammo. Before today I tried Superdomes, Hobby, Weihrauch Magnum , JSB Exact Jumbo RS , AA Diabolo Field and JSB Hades. I hope you'll agree these are all quality pellets but previous results disappointed. Today I visited my local RFD and picked up some .22 H&N Field Target Trophy.

Bang on ! They felt quite a tight fit in the barrel though but shot superbly. Pellet on pellet at 25 yards. Very pleased. What ammo does your HW80 like the best? Thanks guys.

Fortunately mine doesn't appear to be too fussy, I settled on Falcon AP or Exact RS for the benefit in trajectory. Great looking rifle BTW!

The individual way a rifle is set up will to a large part affect how it performs.
The FTT in particular can soften an over slammy cycle which can improve accuracy.

In a rifle set up directly for a lighter pellet, FTT can induce piston bounce which feels horrid and can adversely affect accuracy.

I tune springers for one particular pellet. They're always consistently accurate with the pellet I set them up for.

Both mine are not fussy - but really like RS, at least so far as my current pellet testing has gone. :thumb:

Superdome , F&TT , Bisley LRG but also groups very well with Hobby out to about 25 to 30 .

In years past i had a mark 1 . I bought it from Uttings shop in Norwich and it was superb with superdomes. This newer model is'nt so keen on them.

Cheers bud, I love shooting it. Exact RS are "next best" pellet but i used to get the odd flyer. These H&N Field Target Trophy are the mutts nuts. Have you given them a go in your 80?

I don't have an 80 but I do have its smaller oik of a brother the 85, I gather the barrels for those types are all the same.
It likes ftt's although they do feel tight on loading, but superdomes don't do too badly either, I have heard they're not great past 30yds from whatever you fire them from!

I'm fairly new to the HW80 but JSB Exacts (which I use in my S410) seem to do the job well enough. I ran a tin of H&N FTT though it last year but resorted again to JSB when they ran out. Not much to choose between them up to 50 Yards but the JSBs seem more stable (and group slightly better) after that. JSB Exacts have a measurably superior Ballistic Coefficient as well.

Your mileage, as our American cousins say, may vary. :)

I'm surprised, HW barrels aren't usually pellet sensitive. I'm very surprised that your 80 doesn't like Jumbo RS - my pal's Mk.I loves them, (as does my 99s). However, back in the day, FTT were always the go-to pellet for Weihrauchs...

FTT's strike again, only issue I have with them is they rob power hand over fist...

My S410 runs 11.6's with JSB/AADF yet runs 10.9's with FTT...

I know accuracy is the most important factor but they're not massively better than AADF's producing only slightly tidier groups...

Have you tried "Express" buddy ?...

    Try the Weihrauch F&T Special.

They are the same rebadged pellet as the H&N FTT but supplied as a 5.51mm rather than the 5.53mm H&N version.

I know many will say that the quoted sizes are irrelevant as the pellet sizes vary anyway but I have always found the "5.53" version tight in the breech of my HW77 whereas the "5.51" fit comfortably and fly faster through my chronos.

They are supplied in tins of 200 so not an expensive experiment to give them a try.

I feed all of my Weihrauch Springers with H&Ns but the only 1 I have trouble with, is my HW80 in .177.
Still not found one it really likes but the QYS are the best so far in it.
