1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

Had some fun this aft with new to me hw45, shooting a few empty lighters and stuff with open sights has been fun but would be interested in what the gun could do with an accurate red dot sight, as inch groups are about the best I can do at 10yrds because of the size of the fore post covering so much of the target, granted I was only using cheapo pellets at my mates house, Im assuming they will prefer similar diets to my rifles, so Im hoping the groups will tighten a bit when I try some decent pellets.

Can anyone recommend a red dot or laser that comes with split mounts that will suit the rail on these, or just some decent split mounts would do as I've got a pistol scope that is dead clear came with the gun Im just unsure about the mounts, don't want to scratch the rail as I know It isn't a standard 11 mm, ive read split mounts are what I need.

    Cheers in advance.

Hi Engraver, We did this experiment in April. keep yer money in yer pocket. we have problems with degenerationg eyesight (Nothing serious though!) we tried all the red dots available.
The best performer in low and strong light was the Nikko Stirling reflex 30, with it's 11 pos' rheostat and integral mounts. However all the red dot sights have the same fault - No parallax correction. Your head position needs to be impossibly perfect or you will get "dot float" which opens the group. lasers are crap as they vanish in strong daylight, expand with distance and can't be used to lead a swinging target.

Our overall winner was a very weak pair of reading glasses and iron sights. This keeps the foresight in focus, while the target and rear sight stay in reasonable focus enabling good linup of tatget and sights.
As for the rail size. Mine are 12.1mm at the business point on my early HW45, I've had no trouble mounting 11mm rail stuff on the rail as I think the 0.5mm or so offset is minimal when shooting at 10m. If it's zeroed for 10m only, then it shouldn't make any difference at all what the offset is.
    hope this helps....:confused::)

Thanks buddy I think your spot on.

To be honest Ive had another plink this morning and lined ten emty shotgun cartridges up at 15 yrds, and hit everyone with the iron sights I have just learned a loose forgiving hold is best and Ive adjusted the sights a little and its bang on, I would be pretty confident now hitting a coke can at 20yrds with the pistol probably 9 out of 10 shots.

Have to say they are flippin brilliant fun, best airpistol Ive used and Ive had a few including a couple of brockocks.

I think it will be excellent fun when my lad gets a bit older and I get a bigger garden.

    Thanks for the advice.

Loose grip is key to accurate results. A good HW45 with the right pellet should hit an (older, larger) 50p bit at 25 yards 8 or 9 times out of 10 - with practice. I don't think my eyes are up to that anymore , - but my daughter shows promise..

I put a scope on mine saturday. straight back to open sites for me i can hit a 17cm x 17cm square open sites at 30 yards just off centre.

scope made it worse not better.

    I'll echo that sentiment.

Fitted a 2x20 scope to mine, got it zeroed and then took it back off after ten shots or so. I can kill cans at 20m with the irons, and enjoy it much more. Know it's not a red dot, but just didn't have the same feel to it scoped up...

I was bored at one point today so had a little tinker in the garage. The gun came with some home made grips so I sanded them down and put in some finger grooves matching my fingers, then restained and oiled them, the gun feels loads better in my hands now.

[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]Im also convinced they were used as props in Robocop lol

Looks good - I'm still on the first type grips with the inset HWM logo. I rest the tip of my middle finger in it for a consistent hold. You have 3 finger indents now so you should do 3x better. How about a penny at 20m ? :thumb:

Thanks Steve the gun is really good fun mate It was just a learning curve initially but Ive mastered it now and the accuracy can now be really explored and it is accurate, once you master its quirks, Im pretty confident with it now.
