1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Hi y'all! I iz Jess. I'm new to shooting.

<< Rewind 3 years ago. Local fair with paintball guns. 12 shots, 12 targets and £5 for 1 game or £8 for 2. I bought 2 games and got all 12 targets down both times. I later went back and had another 2 goes and again knocked all of them down both times. I went home that day with a Giant Pink unicorn and 5 small unicorns in white, pink, purple and 1 blue one that my friend liked which i gave her (I hate blue).

Later that night at home i started looking online to buy a paintball gun. Never quite got around to it due to costs, but was still planning on it.

<< Rewind 2 1/2 years ago. Local fair. me and brother see the target shooting game. They had some form of simple junior break barrel rifles in what i believe was .177c

£5 for 8 shots, 8 targets, the more targets you knock down the bigger the prize. My brother and i each had a go and i knocked down all 8 targets first try. He didn't hit a single one and was annoyed saying something must be wrong with the rifle he was using. (There were 3 rifles and 3 sets of targets so multiple people could have a go at the same time).

I asked the guy how much for just 1 pellet so i could try the rifle my brother had been using, he gave me the 1 for free. Soon as i picked up the rifle i realized the iron sight was completely different, and quite awful on this rifle compared to the one i had been using. I took my time to line up the shot though and hit the target right in the center.

I was immediately hooked and decided, "Screw the paintball gun, these things are way better and way cheaper... at least for ammo!"
Got home, got online, started looking things up. A week later my brother was in town and we went to the local gun shop and i had a look at allot of guns and ended up going home with my first rifle. A Stoeger x20s .177 for £200 with a camo soft slip, some basic scope, 250 dome pellets and 25 basic paper targets.

We setup targets in the backyard and i started shooting 5 pellets every day then 10 then 15 and some days 20. I like firing the Stoeger, it's a very nice rifle. but it's just far to heavy and the cocking force required is very difficult for me. I'm quite small and not very strong and the weight of the gun gets very tiresome after about 10 shots.

So about 8 months ago i stopped shooting in the yard everyday. In fact since then I've only been out to shoot about 3 maybe 4 times. It got a bit to much and my arms were feeling bruised and painful from cocking it.

I really enjoy the shooting though so last week i decided to start looking for something lighter weight. I however didn't want a junior rifle due to the lower power. i want to try and get good at ranged target shooting. So after looking and not really finding quite what i wanted i came here to ask for advice and so here i am. and the advice has been great and i am planning next week to buy an SMK Victory CP2.

It's not quite what i wanted. But it does look pretty perfect for me until i find/can afford, something more suitable for my end goal. Either way, the CP2 will be perfect for my backyard shooting rather than this ridiculous big and heavy Stoeger i have xD

Sooooooo yah, that's my intro. Oh also i'm a complete computer/tech nerd and love video games, Rubik's puzzles, 3D printing, Photography, astronomy and astro-photography, pizza and sleep :3

Oh and my fave colour is PiNk!

TLDR: Newb Nerd Got a Gun...

If you got the end of this post you deserve a cookie. So if u have any in your kitchen go get one and enjoy it now! :3

Note: I would like to make clear that i am interested in TARGET sports only. Animals are to cutes to shoots. I'm not against those who hunt as-long as it's to be eaten. But i don't agree with hunting merely for sport. Pest control i'm not a fan of but, i understand it, i just personally couldn't do it myself :3

No, many people on the forum only punch paper or take their gun to the range, but few of us are female, young, and love unicorns ;)

Try looking for a S200 if you are after a smaller light pcp rifle, I'm a bit of a fan boy but they are decent rifles.
BTW welcome to the forum
