1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I have been asked to join an FT Club by a mate, so I am looking to buy a PCP. The only PCP I have owned was my Daystate Huntsman ( Wish I had never sold it!! )
In my Budget of £300 I have found 3 Air Arms S400's .177 Second hand on Gun Trader. It will be used for hunting and FT.
Can my esteemed fellow forum members who own / have owned / know about these, help me with the following please?
Do these have a good reputation?
how many shots per fill can I expect?
One has a regulator fitted, does this give you consistent / more shots?
How much to fit a regulator?
Can you convert these to Multi Shot?

Just a heads up, if you have one for sale, or something similar in my budget, if you PM me before Monday, I might buy it off you.
Rather put the money in your pocket than a dealer but it will have to be a nice one!!!! May consider .22.
I have put some extra money aside for a divers bottle and whip.

I own an AAS400 in a sweet 22 flavour. I love the rifle, it can be converted to a multi shot for around £60 via rowan engineering. B E A Utiful

fantastic rifle for target or game! i've been using an s400 classic for the last year or so and cant fault it. its a .177 calibre my preferred choice for hunting (sub 12 ft/lb anyways.) takes rabbits clean in calm conditions out to 50 yards in my hands.
i fitted a rowan multi shot adapter and its as reliable and easy to use, takes a little while to get the hang of it as its manual but now i dont even have to look to cycle it. its accurate enough to group three quarter inch groups at 50 yards with air arms fields in 4.52mm
mines unregulated but if i charge it to 165 bar i get around 50 full power shots, if i charge it higher the first shots are lower power.
so far i cant fault it, its been a work horse and in the time i've had it (one year) its accounted for over 300 rabbits
only down side is you have to be careful with the barrel not to knock it as it can spin the barrel band around.

The 400 is THE budget FT gun. Nothing else is as widely used at that price range. Superb rep. Classic does 70 shots and carbine 55. Regs can give more shots and be more consistent but std gun is excellent in that area anyway. There are several brands of reg from £70 to £250. Some are excellent and some are poo. Rowan engineering aftermarket multi conversion is manually indexed - can't see the point myself but some like them. Don't get the 410 for target work. A multi is a PITA for such a job.
Don't even think of .22 for FT.

i got to keep "she that must be obeyed happy" so I set the limit to £300. Remember it will cost me £100 plus for the bottle.
It is quite easy to spend an extra £100 but I have just joined a Rifle and Pistol Club and looking to get a .308 Winchester P14 in September. I wanted to not feel guilty about "another air gun" lying in my safe while I am going through my club probationary period and originally was going for a springer in .177 but I can't get on with the heavy guns for hunting. (getting old now! LOL!) and TX200's, HW77's etc.. are basically the same price.
