  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

    Hi all,

I have just purchased a Hawke Airmax 8-32x50 which I used for the first time tonight. I got to have a go on a fellow members Sidewinder which is a 6-24. I'm starting to think I brought the wrong scope. What are your opinions of both scopes? Which would you go for and why? The price difference isn't a factor.

    Thanks everybody

I had the the airmax for a little while on mine,I found it really clear and crisp optically, but the one I had had a reticle that was so thick it was really hard for aiming at pellet holes.it was like it had been drawn in with a permanent marker!my boy has it on his rifle and he likes it.I've bought a varmint 2.5 10 x44 sf and I really like it.atb jw

    Hi Smiler,

I've got the same scope on my new HW100. It's very good and I do like the reticle (AMX). The only issue I have with it is at high mag/low light the image is not fantastically clear (quite "milky"). Not a big deal though - and at the price for that mag it is pretty good. If I was buying again, I'd probably also have a closer look at an MTC Viper 8-32x60 - around the same price and based on the ones I've looked through marginally better optics.

Are you sure it was the Airmax 30?, these ret's are very fine in comparison with the old Airmax and a totally different scope. I had one within days of it's release and the optical clarity was superb. Having come from the MAP6A ret on all my Panorama's I just couldn't get used to it but that was just me. Apart from the ret I thought it was very much like the Sidewinders. I could have spent more time getting used to it but I went back to the Pano's. I also bought a Varmint which was also very good but they didn't do the ret in MAP6A or that would have been a keeper.

I have the S/W and I have to say that I love it to bits. Its sitting on a hw100 and the image is just fantastic in all light conditions. The parallax adjustment is so easy via the side wheel. Great scope for very reasonable price imo. KB1

I think there is only one reticle on these, all fine. These are new scopes, only been around a few months.

Mines an airmax but its not that new,so it may be one of the older models.I assumed it was an ev3 as when I looked up reviews that's what came up.either way the ret on mine is a chunk!

I've had both the 24 and 30 Airmax 30 SF, and they've both been really nice, fine reticles. I looked at the Sidewinder but didn't like the ret or the screw on covers. The Airmax has superb metal flip-up covers as standard.

Was just doing some searching regarding this scope and stumbled across this one.

I've recently bought one of these off someone else.

If the ret is too thick, it's probably because the ocular lens hasn't been focused.

Similarly, though I do find it milky at x32 and at x8 and x10 it can be a bit hazy around the edges. Otherwise it's ok.

I've found rets on both the airmax and panorama range can vary in thickness of the ret.

side winder 8-32 x 56 with 20x half mil dot Pros for me. 2 colour ret, 56 objective very good optics. airmax 30 sf nicer looking smooth to function. not quite as clear but it is marginal, single colour ret but infinitely adjustable if the battery doesn't run out by accidentally switching on.

I've no experience of either of these scopes, I have a Sidewinder 30 4-16x50 and Tac 30 6.5-20x42. I think the main advantage for your 8-32 is increased range finding distance.
For example both my scopes range find accurately to 35 meters (39 yards).
That 8-32 should range find accurately to 40 or 45 meters, if your hunting, that is a lot more game in the bag. If you're competing on the shooting range you should also get better results.
