1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'm looking at getting an adjustable mount for a scope and have come across these two as one piece units (I looked at the Sportsmatch 2 piece but couldn't justify £80!).

    http://www.airgunspares.com/store/product/10121/B-Square-Adjustable-1pc-Mount/

    http://www.airgunspares.com/store/product/10119/BSA-Adjustable-One-Piece-Mount/

The write-ups for the B-Square one are excellent and that is my preferred one as the scope is a long 6x24 50AO and I want to interchange it with the Nikko Mountmaster 3x9 50AO I currently use. The longer scope is about 15" long and I have to shim the rear mount to get the POA up at the moment with my current mounts, the logic being that if I have to get new mounts anyway, why not get one that does the shimming job for you and leaves more room for adjustment of the scope.

Any thoughts or has anyone ever used one before I go spending some more dosh :smash:

I use this Nikko sterling on one of mine , it is adjustable for elevation only, but it has no play when adjusted , and is cheap around 20 pounds . if you centre you cross hairs before you fit the mount you can get it somewhere near then use the scope's adjustment, second one down,

Yes - buy them they're very, very good

I have the one piece on my TX200 and the the two-pieces on a couple of my S410s and NJR. They're not without their faults but are well worth having:

Good points: The mounts offer more adjustability than other options; at 35yds I can usually get within half an inch laterally and a couple of inches vertically of my POA just on the mounts; this allows the 'scope to be optically centred and used right in the middle of its adjustment range - meaning it's less stressed and adjustments should be more repeatable.

The mounts also have the advantage of allowing you to compensate for misalignment between optics and barrel - bent barrels, droop etc.

Because everything is mounted on gimbals the scope tube is totally unstressed; unlike it would be if mounted on shimmed, normal mounts.

B-Square haven't made these for ages and they used to retail for about £55; so at £22 they're a steal (might have another set myself actually as that's less than cost price).

Bad points: Setup takes a long time and can be a bit frustrating, although once you get your head round it it's easy enough. The fixings are all imperial - the main allen key size is (IIRC) 7/32" - a very queer size; don't lose the supplied key! QC can be a little iffy, but you should be alright if you're careful that everything is aligned when tightening everything up. Finally some sets only come with a pillar that has an integral arrester stud, which you'll have to remove if your gun doesn't have the holes.

A couple of tips - the rings are springy and need to be opened up a little to fit over the 'scope tube; if you just force them over this can mark the finish (esp. on things like the Simmons WTC) this can be avoided by slipping a bit of paper between the ring and 'scope before fitting, so that the ring slides against the paper rather than the 'scope tube (remove the paper afterwards).

Also, when adjusting the height of the mounts, don't remove the 'scope from the rings; slacken everything off and remove the lower screws that hold the pillars into their bases - this allows you to lift the 'scope and rings away from the base and rotate the pillars to alter the elevation adjustment without having to take the 'scope out of the rings.

You'll see what I mean when you look at them ;)

A few things I forgot - a 50mm objective 'scope won't fit those particular mounts - you'll need a riser post kit to space the rings away from the base. The same mounts are now sold under the Hawke brand so parts are still available.. from BAR for example.

These are a much better mount than either the Sportsmatch or Nikko alternatives ;)

Thanks for that Cloverleaf, so as well as the one piece I will have to get a riser as well? Do they do a 1 piece that negates the use for a riser?
