1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Order over the phone from RFD, arrange a collection slot, RFD fills out paperwork and hands over gun.

It would be hard to argue against that NOT being an essential journey to provide security for your new purchase in the light of recent happenings........

Our local gunshop does click and collect and i am sure if you have arranged to collect from them they would back you up if asked the question by the police.

I've sold a few and some reloading components. I ask the buyer to ring ahead so it can be ready - a sort of click and collect without the click.;)

    Are we talking Shotguns ?
If so how can you click and collect and know it’s going to fit you, and if it’s second hand to a standard you’d be happy with after only seeing photos of the gun.
    Just asking.

I see your point Storcky but there is actually a thriving market with folk who do buy shotguns this way. My local clay ground sells many guns click and collect or RFD to RFD.

It’s a gamble, but if you you are familiar with what you are buying, it could cut down risk .
I wasn’t with my last purchase, but they don’t come up for sale to often. Took the risk and it fits like a glove . I have to say the shop were very helpful in providing measurements

Not everyone needs an off the shelf gun that fits perfectly. Some are buying for a collection, some already know it fits, some will be buying something like an escort that comes with loads of adjustment, some can make it fit themselves and some just shoot what they have as they either dont care or can do reasonably well with anything ;)

I'm currently buying a 525 for rough shooting, already have one but its a grade 6. I saw one on my local RFD website and made an enquiry about it, it seemed ok so I went down to have a look and took my existing 525 with me, I liked the shop one so they took measurement from my current one and are extending it to match.
All this was done with minimum fuss, I cleaned my hands, shouldered and pointed (no range) but beads were where I was looking, clean condition, opened and closed crisply so I had no issues. In fact I found out that when my current gun had been lengthened for me it had been cut square so the customer care levels are still there as they informed me of this before cutting the stock!

About fit. Why do my vintage hammer guns "pre 1900" seem to fit everyone? Long, short, fat thin. Whenever I take these guns clay shooting folk always want a go with them, at least a feel ,and the comments are always the same. Gosh I could shoot that.. Or heck that comes up nice??? Yet offer them my modern guns and there always seems to be some fault.

Interesting.. mind trick or did the older guns have a decent cast off as built , I know that’s only one thing regarding fit but most new guns seem to be neutral, if not fitted with a adjustable comb . Or do we overthink things at times

Have the same at one of my clay grounds, gentlemen who shoots owns many old powder burners, everyone likes them, shoulders them, ooh arr misses that’s nice and allowed a shot or two (and usually miss) it’s the going through the motions thing, very old gun, appreciate the workmanship etc but over the course of the day the owner very rarely scores a card worth mentioning and he knows it, but put in the stall with “his” over & under and look out ‘cos your gonna get minced.
As previously said I’d it don’t fit you hit Censored..... but please carry on click and collecting if that’s your choice.
It will never be mine :thumb:
