1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

    Hello everyone. I'm new to shooting, so my knowledge is limited, but my enthusiasm is 100% to learn more. I have come on here for the following reasons;
    1. To learn to be a better shooter
    2. To get more information on to obtain my ultimate rifle....I will explain those factors later on.
    3. To find places where I can legitimately shoot and find fellow enthusiasts who can educate me and help me gain greater skills.
    4. When my skills are at an proficient level? Then obtain an FAC and how to best go about that an what pitfalls to avoid to make sure my application is successful....this will probably be around December 2015 when I make my application...so no rush yet!

With regards to point 2. For me personally (everyone has their own choice of rifle and this would be mine....if it exists).
I wish to obtain a .22 multi shot PCP rifle, must be completely silent, have zero recoil, a trigger that requires very little poundage to pull (a hair trigger basically), and be a sub 12 ft lb rifle (as mentioned I do not currently have and FAC).
I'm not worried about price....for me it is about having a rifle that I do not have to upgrade and will put me in good stead when (if successful) I do get an FAC.
The scope....I will probably buy myself a Schmidt and bender as like the rifle...I want quality!

I look forward to speaking to everyone on here and the advice of the members upon this forum that will hopefully be given freely.

    Thank you for reading

If you are new to shooting i would not spend a lot of money at the start as it can be very expensive......Try and join a club and see what other people are doing buy second hand there is loads of bargains about.....start with a springer rather than a pcp its cheaper....have a look at SMK or Hatsan

hello, there is no such thing as a completely silent rifle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!, not even a PCP as there is internal sound upon shooting. i think as bob said get to a club and see and try out before you buy.

Hi and welcome to the forum,a hair trigger is nothing but an accident waiting to happen a slight knock can make the gun go off- a visit to a local gun club will give you a better idea of what you really need in the rifle and trigger set up ect,

I don't think going out and spending all your money on a top of the range rifle is the best way to go about entering the sport, a lot of people would even advise getting a springer before a PCP as if you can train up on a springer you'll find the PCP much easier, or else get a cheaper PCP. Cheaper doesn't mean bad. A Hatsan AT44-10 is pretty damn quiet, can get 5p groupings at 30+ yards and has an adjustable trigger so can be hairline like you want it. Does all already expensive rifle does but at a much cheaper price brand new with all the mods you can find for as little as £335

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, much appreciated. I already have a springer. I have an SMK XS38 .22 with a hawke scope. The reason I would like an extremely quiet rifle is that my springer is p*****g off the neighbours with all my practising (I get through around 500 to 750 pellets a week). My garden is 85ft long and I can already get 4out of 10 shots directly in the bullseye, the rest are all within the size of a 5p pence....hence the need for an PCP that is as quiet as possible. The other reason I want a top end rifle is (without sounding conceited) I can and I want something that will last for years....it's a personal choice. My end goal is to actually have 2 rifles...one specifically for target shooting and one for hunting. My choice of scope for the new rifle is simple....I wish to have (after reading many reviews) what is considered to be one of the most resilient and best optics the Schmidt and Bender range. For now though I want an excellent multi shot rifle. I already know exactly what I want for the target shooting and I will be buying that at the end off next year...An Anschutz 9003. If I have come across as conceited in anyway I do apologise as that is not my intention, it's just that I'm fortunate enough to be able to get myself something exceptional and I would like people's opinions on what they consider is as close as possible to the parameters I'm looking at. Thank you all though for the advice you have given so far, I do appreciate it and I look forward to making new friends in here
