1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

My Mrs went mad in the garden this year with plants - looking forward to the water bill for the summer months!

The woman next door is always asking if I can shoot water over the fence and do hers at the same time. Feck off..

    Move to Devon.
My water is from a spring, tastes awesome and is free, no water rates.
Sewage goes through a digester so no sewage rates just £200 every five years, lets the water out which probably feeds the springs further down the hill! Good job there are no houses further up the hill.
Heating is by wood burner, just a bit of effort logging which keeps me fit.
Neighbours on one side are sheep, on another a horse and on another the farmer.
Practically live on rabbits and game.
    I love Devon!

It’s amazing how many companies, be it insurance, gas, electric, broadband etc have good deals for new customers, but don’t offer the same for existing customers, they don’t seem to want loyal customers who stay with them. Weird way of running a business.

It's mental isn't it.

Absolutely sick to death of going through the same BS each year and trawling for the best prices for car insurance etc but if I/we don't then the current company we're with will always take the mickey and rip you off.

I'm in the same boat Shauny. My EFF dual fuel tariff runs out at the end of August, I'm getting the same story off them having only moved to them 12 months ago.
Move again is the answer. :thumb:

I've just started on a new fixed tariff with NPower, I've tied in for the maximum amount of years, I think 3, as the bill just keeps rising and rising.

Used to pay £200 P/M for dual fuel, I fitted a log burner at great expense and the monthly bill dropped to £46, then it has slowly risen, £86, £105, £114 and now at £136 P/M, fast approaching what we previously paid.

They did this before and I recently got a whopping £500 back as I'd over paid.

It's just getting ridiculous, I've done everything possible to make the house more energy efficient, apart from having the external walls completely cladded outside, I'm not spending over £10,000 on that as I can't guarantee I will be staying here and I'm not paying it for someone else's benefit.

I've been giving the water supply thing some thought too, we have an underground reserviour beneath us, I'm not sure how deep but I'm considering having a line tapped into it, I wondered if anyone else has tapped into the ground for their own water supply and what has to be done?

When you use uswitch or similar make sure the box for "show deals that we can't switch you to today" or some-such is ticked.

I'm with edf and if you go on their website and if your current tariff is coming to an end you can check to see which is the cheapest tariff on offer from them and change to it.while you're on their website they offer a live chat service with one of their representatives if you've got any queries which is easier and quicker than phoning in most cases.

Haven’t EDF raised their charges twice so far this year. If hundreds of thousands of customers left they might think twice. Happened to British Gas, they lost over a million one year as I remember.

As you know there's no law or legislation that states you have to have a smart meter fitted, it's for their benefit so they can disconnect you easier or ration you at the flick of a switch, they've been fear mongering for years that it will happen!

We've just swapped from nPower following the latest end of tariff price rise. The best deal for us was with SO Energy and are projected to save around £350 a year.
