1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

I think the main problem using a pistol for rats is their 6ft/lb limit. She'd have to get close enough to club it to death, so save yourself a load of cash and buy her a hammer !!!

The only pistol that many retailers suggest will kill rats is the HW45. Only for close range shooting, but this is often the case for rats....
    More power to your Mum!

Suppose so, if they do them in .22 PCP or CO2:):)

The best pistol for close in ratting and not too complicated to use/load is the Sheridan Pro Hunter pistol in .177 and will kill rats cleanly at 10 yards...you will need to give your mum some serious lessons in accuracy to kill anything with a pistol...even I only use the pistol at close range and have been shooting for 40 years and I still miss...heed the forums advice and either buy a small rifle or you do the exterminating...the latter is my advice to be on the safe side.

The Crosman Ratcatcher .22 CO2 is perfect for close quarter rat killing (no recoil) and is used by many vermin control specialists for cornered animals.

Main issue with Rat's is they are tough Vermin

And they do Bleed well if well hit

I have known more damage done when Shot around Buildings in or out :(

Prefer to use Trap Cages in or around living building

Aware that some Vermin Cotrol firms will use a Anics Skiff
to Finish off a Rat in a cage

Not letting on how many .177 Rounds it might take to finish off a Rat :(

Most large Garden Centres Now Sell Rat Trap Cages ;)
