1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

    'Behaviour

Do not make inappropriate or offensive posts - including threats, harassment, swearing, prejudice, defamation, deliberate insults or name-calling, other negative remarks about this forum, its moderators and administrators or your fellow members. Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.'

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Can someone please point me in the right direction. Having recently come back from an unplanned hoilday I’m trying my best to be less of a cheeky monkey
I have just read the ‘Buyers’ Rule: Adjustments.jpg
But I saw someone quote a different ‘Buyers’ Rule: Adjustments.jpg
    What one is correct?
And if I’m looking at some out of date Rules can someone please share the link to the latest ones
Mods feel free to lock this once I have the info I’m not trying to start a war

Hi Mark.its to stop sneaky selling via pm (you know the sort of buyers edging their bets wanting the best deal possible usually with some sort of guarantee) When and if you want to buy something on here say so on the sales listing Ask questions via pm yes but no selling via pms it’s now against the forum rules and so it should be.I fell foul of one of these wanting a guarantee merchants who messed the seller around The seller I knew very well He was so sick of the idiot buying He offered the rifle to me and I bought it I said so on the sales thread my big mistake needless to say Steve got banned and I had a 4 week holiday The person who caused all the grief well he went to ground and now only comes on here to buy and sell and the wanted section he gives nothing back what so ever to the forum.

    Nice one @Marky-Boy

IMO should be on the thread only.

Nothing to stop a discussion via PM, negotiate etc - the risk is you may lose it to someone who updates the thread with yes please before you.

I'm all for making things more transparent.

'Yes please' on the thread means nothing in my experience. On two occasions I have done this and on both occasions I did not get the items.

So I don't even bother looking at sales now.

The only problem with that Mikey is unless you have a Watch on a thread, which is of course a good idea on a Sales thread, you don't get a red flag in the same way that it happens when a PM comes up. I think priority should always be given to the the Sales thread but then a PM helps flag it to the seller. I know people will say you should keep an eye on your sales threads but it could be hours between visits so the PM helps.

@Dag the rules are clear mate
I agree with Mikey it’s not rocket science to check your sales thread before replying to a pm

No, because I have bigger battles to fight on a daily basis, and some things are not worth that much of my attention.
Much easier not to bother buying.

To me whilst it’s clear what the forum is trying to achieve with clarity of sales it’s still very murky , if I go into a shop , pick something up , take it to the till , and halfway through asking a question before purchase someone else takes it from my hands and says “I’ll buy it” , it puts everyone in a very awkward situation.
not sure what the solution is to keep everyone happy other than leave it to the sellers discretion and honesty , if the seller falls foul then it is up to the buyer to leave the appropriate feedback for all to see .

There will often be a time lapse between posting on a thread, dealings with PMs, and also over the phone. I've missed a couple of things in the past with this and just put it down to experience, it's either that or fall out with people over not selling you something, and your not going to get it anyway, so you have to take it on the chin. I'm not saying this is perfect, but I can also understand a person going back and forth by PM over a half hour getting info and a sale being agreed between them - only to go back to the thread to see someone else has said they will take it - it could be only minuet's in real life, so I think it should be up to the seller to have the final say as we all know buyers let sellers down more than sellers let buyers down
