1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Cool Oed.

I go to the Northern Arms and Militaria Fairs every other month. Have you been to a Militaria/Arms fair? I think you would be in your element mate.

I loved my arms fairs Wild Bill, been doing them for many years, Wales, England, France and Belgium, the last one was at Malvern a couple of years ago. Brecon a nice one and not that far from me. Losing interest in buying these days and the wife keeps saying I have enough rubbish in the house now.

Love the military stuff Oed. I'm off to the Northern Arms Fair in December. Quite a few of the traders do military airguns now too and the Western pistols.

It's a pity some people on here (he/they know who they are, one of the mods does it all the time:down:) is also like that) class anyone who like military style replica airguns, CO2 Pistols etc and accessories as 'WALTS' and look down on them. I find 'walts' such an offensive and derogatory description and hardly helpful to our hobby. I suppose some real live firearms users will think all airgun users are pathetic and childish with their popguns too.

I think it is short for Walter Mitty....the fictional character who lived in a dream world etc...
If so.....I am a Walt too, as I like militaria and western guns, in fact I like most types of firearm but also have interest in the era in which they belong...... what's wrong with that.???
    Pete.

Walt, Walter Mitty, derogatory slang for impersonating the real thing.

    This^^^

A Walter Mitty. In military circles, the name of James Thurber's fictional fantasist is applied to the persistent band of hoaxers who, for whatever reason, boast of military records they haven't earned. Sometimes Walter Mitty is abbreviated to Walter, or just Walt. A derogatory slag word.

    British military slang
Individuals who impersonate serving or retired members of the armed forces are known as "Walts" in the British Armed Forces, a shortened form of "Walter Mitty".

So when someone on here describes people who own or buy military looking airguns, pistols etc etc as a 'walt' I find that just a tad insulting. Just my own thoughts on the matter.

Me Wild Bill, I don't worry or care what some thing. Its a hobby to be enjoyed and the likes of you and others on here will keep it that way, and your great guys to me:thumb:.

I have been to the arms fair at the National Motorcycle Museum Birmingham, started doing them in the 90s. Sold some off but still got a bit. I have used them in WW1 and WW2 exhibitions at schools and explained to them what it was like to use them and to handle them, last one I did was 2018.

    My 2p (FWIW)..

To look down on people and class them as walts / wannabe Rambo's and the like, is just being petulant.
Seeing as this sport / hobby is always under threat, we should be supporting each other. At the end of the day, we all have one thing in common, which is a love of guns and shooting - no matter what the format.

Let's not forget that many of those that post in this section are also air rifle enthusiasts / shooters as well.
It could be just as easily said that air rifles are underpowered toys, so why not apply for a fac and shoot the real deal like .22 rimfire for example.
Mud can be thrown in both directions should one wish to be pedantic.

I used to shoot RS pistols before our nanny state banned handguns. Why is it wrong to try and get as close to my old hobby as the law allows?
The pistol below cost £365 to build up. They are not all pot metal / plasticky toys.
This started life as a (mostly plastic) Marui 1911A1.
    Upgraded with;
    Metal slide & frame.
CNC stainless outer barrel / chamber / barrel bushing and spring guide. Nearly full RS weight, totally realistic and more accurate than either of my SAA's @ 8m.
As I said, it's the closest I can get to what I used to do, and there is nothing childish / wannabe anything about it.

I just love the realism of the pistols and revolvers that are on available now, with the exception of one that I saw in my local RFD, it looked like something out of some kind of post apocalyptic SciFi film
