90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I am looking in to getting a tuning kit for my HW57, i was also thinking about fitting it myself. Anyone got any advice as to the fitting and/or which tuning kits to go for?

    Many thanks

I've had my HW57 for about 2 months now. I bought it from the sales section of another air gun forum. It's only 8 months old (from new). When I bought it came fitted with a Nikko Stirling 3-9x40 scope, also included was a Welsh Willy tuning kit - a cut to size Titan XS spring, delrin spring guide & top hat, several delrin power bands etc... The kit wasn't fitted when I bought it, I used the gun in its standard form for a few weeks. Then one rainy Saturday I decided to fit the WW kit, took no more than half an hour even though I'd never had a HW57 apart before. The difference is "notable", easier & smoother to cock, no spring twang etc. Accuracy wise it may be a little better than it was...probably due to the reduced recoil. The HW57 is a noisy gun, there's no getting away from that fact - the kit makes no difference to the muzzle crack, but in ALL other aspects the gun IS a different beast. Definitely worth the £60 that the WW kit costs.
All the above is just my personal opinion of course...but I wouldn't recommend the kit if I thought otherwise.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked into the WW kits and they seem like a good, cheaper option and i havn't heard any negatives. The noise isn't really a problem as i knew it was going to be loud when i purchased it, but as you said about the recoil, i think it would increase the accuracy if tuned. I've not stripped an air rifle before but have stripped many SA80-A2 rifles as i used to be in the military. Is it similar or should i approach with caution?

Hi Matt, it's a pretty straightforward process to strip/rebuild the '57, you will need a spring compressor of some sort (I use a sash clamp). The only other piece of 'special' equipment you'll require is a cut-down Allen key, this is to extract the square blocks at the trigger end of the cylinder.
I do have a full strip down / rebuild guide which I can copy & email to you if you want it...
Might take me a day or two but as long as you're in no big rush it won't be a problem.
Believe me you will be able to fit a tuning kit, and when you do try the 'pellet on the scope turret test'...the pellet shuffles a bit but it'll still be on the turret after you've fired the gun.
