1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'm in the market for an FFP scope and as I've never used one before so am unsure what to look out for.

It's to go on a sub 12 .177 AA510 if that has any bearing on things.

Looking to spend around £200-£300 on it.

Any advice / suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, Davy

I had a menace not long ago (fixed mag) and yes, built like a tank but very heavy. Glass was mediocre at best, clicks very positive. I have looked through a few Lightstreams and they are much better optically. Can be had used for around £250 - £300.

As above get yourself a lightstream, superb optics and £300 second hand.

Lightstream or Falcon Menace are your easiest options. Falcon would be new (occasionally they come up secondhand) and lightstream would definitely be used. Lightstream is going to be at the top of your range, the last few I've seen sold went for £300-350 as people are aware of the optical quality and there's not that many around. They are £450 new.

I've got the Falcon myself, optics at least as good as best New Hawke tactical models so not as bad as some say but obviously they are not lightstream quality or as good as my other scope an Elite 6500.

There was a FFP Weaver Tactical scope 3-9x40 mil-dot I once owned, so very rare. Non-AO so need setting to preferred range. I should never have sold that one, they are awesome if you ever find one. Beautiful small, high quality scope.

As GB23 says. i have a falcon mennace i like it, nice B20 reticule. well built, weighs 750g, a lot of the top end hawks weigh 900-1000g so is not that heavy. the lightstream is better but more double the price. you don't see many of ether come up second hand very often.

Have you looked through one what mag will you be shooting on. what you have to remember is the ret increases and decreases in size as you adjust the magnification biggest on highest mag smallets on lowest mag. on lower mags the ret gets very small

Thanks all, I've picked up a Falcon Optics 5.5-25x50 FFP Menace from the bay for £148 (not bad I thought) couldn't resist for that price. I'm guessing I'll be able to get that back for it if I don't like it.

    Cheers, Davy

Thanks Dave, yeah I want it to change with the zoom so that the mildots stay the same size/spacing relative to the target (I'm not great at math in my head!!).

I've just got a falcon ffp 4-14x44 and I think it's great, pretty heavy but on my fx gladiator hybrid it's fine. I was thinking do the lightstream scope to be fair and not many about second hand but just thought I could have two falcons for the price of a lightstream so took the gamble but very happy.

I saw the one you got off eBay last week, I looked at it before ordering the smaller one. Has it landed safe and sound yet? Or did the bidding end last night

    Hi Robin,

I won the auction last night and just signed in now to send payment, however I have just seen that it has been re-listed using the very same photographs so I'm a bit wary and have asked the seller to explain what's going on before I send any payments through

I am guessing that either he has two of these or is selling the one I bought one again. Either way I'm not happy sending the payment till I know that the scope I have bid on is the one photographed.

    Hope I'm not getting scammed!!

Edit: they do have 100% feedback (so far...)

It's funny a good mate of mine has told me the same this morning, he had a bid on it but it's been listed again. I've been off line this weekend so missed it but there is two listed from the same seller again. I think I looked at the one you bought earlier in the week but bought the smaller one from falcon direct. Keep us updated on his reply and hopefully he has a few of them

I had the Falcom menace but sold it. Scope glass and build is excellent
but I didn't like reticle in low magnifications. If you want to shoot at 6x or lower it is not usable but is you shoot at 10x or higher it is excellent.

ive got both a falcon menace and a lightstream. the glass in the falcon is pants compared to the lightstream. they are solidly built though. glass quality similiar to a hawke sidewinder. sidewinder just edging it!

I'll keep an eye out for a lightstream but the falcon will do me for now. How do the crosshairs in the lightstream compare to the menace?
