    Hi, i am applying for my firearms license and need as much information as possible.How easy is it in the uk to be granted the licence im 17 and want a .17hmr or .22 magnum rimfire caliber rifle for varmint hunting and im going to join a club does it matter what caliber you apply for and is ther a best caliber?also would i more likely get my FAC if i waited a few years till i was older? Thankyou, Dan

    thanks for that shadow loads of information on there does anyone know the effectife ranges of a .22lr .22mag and a .17hmr and what is a good ammount of amunition to keep is 50 for each caliber to much? thanks, dan

    .22wmr 200-250yrds
    .17hmr 200-250yrds

    hmr & wmr ok for headshots ONLY on fox out to 100 max.
    performance of the hmr & wmr is similar, hmr is flatter, but wmr is better in wind....

    Ask to hold 1000 and buy 500 - should be fine. :)
