1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

You'll be fine - most FEO's are shooters themselves. Just answer all questions honestly and it will be plain sailing.

What have you put in for?

Get the FEO to knock the semi auto bit off, fella. It's only the calibre counts, legally.

    Good choices!

Had a good meeting with my local FEO today and what a really nice laid back guy he was, no trick questions, no problems. He said the main checks had already been carried out on me so it was a near formality after todays meeting for him to recommend me to be passed and then his boss to authorise it so hopefully I'll be getting some good news in 2 to 4 weeks.

He went through my completed form with me and said he also needed to better understand my shooting experience and knowledge along with what, where and how I would be securing the guns. He did say that I'd probably be given a closed ticket to begin with for the land I'd put forward but that it was a straightforward no cost process to have more land added.

    So here's hoping.........

P.S. I'll be on here over the next couple of weeks asking for recommendations on what makes and models to fill my .22RF & 17HMR slots with.

    Well done!!!
Remember with your closed ticket you can shoot on ANY land that has already been passed by the police. So that means nearly all farm land without an inspection or needing to inform the police. So long as you have the landowners permission.

Don't think if you get an invite from someone you need that land to be put on your fac before you can shoot as long as it's been cleared that's fine.

    Good luck gun hunting.

    Cheers Andy

Waaayhey......licence finally in my hands! FEO called back this afternoon to check my gun safe, wished me all the best and handed over my FAC :D

I've already got a couple of guns lined up, tomorrow I'm picking up a new CZ 455 VARMINT 17HMR, 16" heavy barrel, thumbhole laminate stock and SAK moderator and I'm collecting a s/hand .22LR Ruger 10/22, 14" barrel, laminate stock and SAK moderator tonight which means all I then need is a FAC air rifle.

The wording on the licence look like R10hunter said meaning I can shoot on any land already passed by the chief constable provided I have permission.

Now then look out all you pesky varmints............:yield:

Congratulations neiled. Do you have to have a mentor for the first few months?

Well, glad you got it sorted. Are you a member of a rifle club? Maybe I need to join one to avoid the whole mentor thing?

Mentoring for Rimfire is a joke!! You can get your sgc for clay shooting, the next day go and buy a 3 1/2 inch chambered gun and some 3 1/2 inch mg shells, 15 x .35 pellets per shell 300 ftlb per pellet that make a Rimfire look like a joke.
But they want you to have a mentor for 1 x 100ftlb????

If they bring up mentoring for Rimfire say it's not practical for you as you never know when you are free to shoot, and you go shooting at a moments notice day and night.

If you can get the land owner to say he gives permission for you and only you to be on the land they are snookered.

Say having the mentoring condition would prevent you controlling the vermin you are required to control.
    ( constructive refusal to grant)

Also politely say that if you certificate were to have a mentoring condition you would appeal it in court as "constructive refusal to grant" as the condition would make you unable to use the rifle for its intended purpose.

They will often back down at this stage as long as you are starting with a small calibre.
If they still won't budge offer to do a days rifle craft course as a compromise.

Be firm but friendly explain you know where he is coming from but mentoring is no good to you.

Make sure you are a member of basc or the ngo.
    Good luck.
    Cheers Andy

Got my visit on Thursday can't wait to hear his opinion on my application for: FAC Air rifle, 22LR, 17HMR + moderators and finally a FAC shotgun. If you don't ask you don't get that's what my old dear told me.
