1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

Just bought an F1 Chrony from merlin archery http://www.merlinarchery.co.uk/chrony-archery-chronograph-with-lighting-system.html and i've been trying to use it and I'm now confused.

The manual says F-1 Chrony measures in FPS and it says FPS on the front next to the display. All good I thought and recorded some shots with a couple of rifles and my pistol and then started to work out the ft/lbs. From the first calculations the pistol was about right and the rifles were woefully underpowered.

I then read the manual a bit more and its says for units set to measure in MPS the display will flash A.L and for units set to measure in FPS the display will flash AL when switched on. Mine displays A.L

Ok so i thought i need to re do the calculations with MPS instead of FSP, this then puts the rifles about right and the pistol well over.

Now it could be i'm trying to do this in my garage and I cannot get far enough away from the chrono to start with so I'm getting odd readings so until I can get out at the weekend and set it up in the garden I'm not to worried about the results I just want to know if its FPS or MPS.

Does anyone else have an F1 that displays A.L when you power it on?

Mine displays AL along with the little "U"s either side flipping up and down,in FPS.

Mine also picks up readings from about 3-4 inches away but I use mine outdoors, have you used yours with and without the white bars?

Yes mine has the flipping "U"s but has A.L not AL.

Yes using the white bars with the lighting kit on.

The lighting kit that came with it had US plugs on it, maybe i have a US one.

You could always multiply the meter results by 3.2808399 ;)

A question why would the US get a metervariant? they are far more removed from the metersystem than you are?

I have never seen them measure Power or speed in MPS and Joule.

Just tested all my guns and the chrono is definitely measuring in mps even though it says fps on it.

But the main bit is all the guns are legal :)

I also bought a Chrony from the same supplier as the OP, last week.

The overhead lighting kit supplied with the unit arrived with 130v bulbs

One of them was in shards

They were wired so that only one bulb would light with any setting of the two switches

In addition my unit has exactly the same feet/metres problem as the OP's unit

All in all, a totally typical British air gun industry transaction.

By "typical" I mean that this kind of poor service/quality control/customer contempt is likely to occur in at least one transaction in every five a person makes.

I bitterly resent the time & trouble one has to take to put these unacceptable c%*k-ups right.

Having just looked on the Merlin Archery web site I'm puzzled as to why they're offering an F1 chrony c/w lighting kit for £84.31 or an F1 Chrony minus the lighting kit for £96.53  Perhaps they're aware of this, shall we say minor defect i.e measuring in mps instead of fps, that's why they're cheaper.
