1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

My GF is from Assen in the Netherlands. Her brother is the proud owner of a HW97. If I wanted to take my hw100 and scuba tank over there to shoot with him, can I take it on the tunnel?

Someone told me that France is ok for transporting a sub 12ft/lb rifle but no idea for the rest of Europe. Get your GF to phone up and find out. Perhaps you could let us know the outcome for anyone else who might do the same.

France is 20 joules. About 16 ft lb so no worries there. From memory I think Netherlands has some more draconian limits.

Do I need to inform any authorities either here or France, Belgium, NL? Do I need to tell eurotunnel when booking?

There are NO power restrictions on airguns in the Netherlands as has been stated many times by a Dutch member on UKCAF. ;)

You will need to check Eurotunnel terms and conditions regarding compressed air and whether an air rifle is considered a weapon. Let us know the outcome.

If you contact your girlfriend's brother he should be able to tell you what Dutch laws are for airguns, you might need a certificate or something. Also over on the B B S in the longe range shooting thread there's quite a few Dutch guys doing the 100M discipline.
Eurotunnel doesn't exclusively ban airguns, or other weapons come to that but I know if you go over with shotguns they like to be notified & they need to be kept secure.

Personally I'd just keep it out of sight & secure, on occasions I've had to transport an airgun on Northlink ferries from Aberdeen, I use a guitar gig bag & keep quiet about it.
I don't think it would be a big deal but the security chaps haven't inspired a lot of confidence in the past, a bit jobsworth, so I don't bother them with it.
It's not like I'm going to pull it out on voyage & shoot at seagulls or something.

UK does not issue international Sub 12FP Gun Certificates - Like Most other European Nations

Throughout Europe there are different power limits and restrictions

Aware of Full bore shooters that go to Europe for competitions who do have International Fire Arms Certificates

And aware that cars are often xrayed in and out of Europe - As some have been caught bring in unlicensed goods

Might be worth a post on - Shooting the Breeze - where UK shooters attend overseas Air Gun Matches

But worth contacting Channel Tunnel and Countries you intend to pass through -

I believe France has a lower legal limit than here, I think that I read somewhere that it is 6 ft lbs, not twelve. Check it out before you go, because it could cost you your rifle.

    ATB Dennis.
