1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

They been looking at banning all lead or toxic ammunition be it bullets pellets or shot.
BASC have a statement on it Denmark already have a ban. What happens in Europe will happen here. Antis have been chipping away for years.
The manufacturers will come up with alternatives like copper and tin. Not as good but you'll still be able to carry on shooting.
I think it will hit shotgun sports first.
Best get practice in with Prometheus pellets.

Not sure how long the lead ban on wildfowling has been in now, I’ve been beating and picking up for over 40 years, yes when the ban first came in people tried bismuth, tin, tungsten, etc, but it was triple the price and next to useless.
Now they just do as the fox hunters do and ignore the law.
So if you’ve got a spare £500/ £1,000 then buying pellets would be a good move as this law would be totally unenforceable.

All the "if this is that and that is this". Why get stressed about something that hasn't happened yet?
    That's what my wife does.

I believe that the driving force behind the lead ban in the UK is actually the supermarkets. Their consumers do not want to eat game that has been shot with lead or feed it to their grand children. We will all have an opinion on lead, personally I have been eating lead shot game for in excess of 50 years with no apparent ill effects and I must have ingested a considerable number of pellets. The general public have been fed a bunch of 'truths' on which to form their opinion that are not based on any actual science or even on anecdotal evidence. Like it or not we will not be able to sell game to a dealer that has been shot with lead before long.

I think that air rifle shooters will be caught up in this situation as it is far easier for politicians to simply ban all lead projectiles than to apply common sense.

In any case you all need protecting from yourselves as we are just thick joe public and incapable of taking a considered adult view - now where is the cotton wool - oops just realised that cotton is bad for the environment - looks like we are all doomed.

I think I am suffering from neurodevelopmental something or other as I was lost after the first syllable - clearly caused by ingestion of #6 shot mainly manufactured by Ely - now where is my solicitor - there must be a claim in there somewhere

Well as of the 31st of this month they can take a running jump of a cliff top. Hopefully our government will not sign up to it over the transmission period.

Probably just be easier to ban all shooting.
Problem solved, and then there will be no gun crime either once all the shooting is banned o_O

A mix of tin and other metals, it depends on manufacturer (each has their own ways of making lead free shot). Here's the thing that gets me though...Fishing leads/shot is banned from a size 8 (0.06 gram) up to 1oz (28.35 gram), yet anything over that size and made of lead is perfectly legal to use.

Carp anglers typically use leads of 2, 3 and 4oz with a clip that loses the lead in snags, weedy swims etc. and the lead stays in the lake. Imagine how much lead is at the bottom of lakes, and yet nobody has said/done anything about it. You would have thought that when they banned the smaller sized shot, they would have put the ban across the board..but haven't

Not if they want to keep shooting.
I go on a few game shoots and all the duck drives lads use steel or bismuth carts.
I use steel a lot for my Wildfowling. Anyone using lead on wildfowl these days is a fool.

Fish and dabbling ducks cant ingest the lead of that size so not a risk. Any smaller than 8 shot you wouldn't use.2mm
