1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

About 40% from UK continental shelf, 45% from the European pipeline systems, about half of which comes from Norway and the other half from Russia, and the rest by LNG tanker, typically from the Middle East. Demand is largely balanced by Russia via the European pipelines, and Qatar by tankers. The UK and a lot of the Norweigan gas is secure supply, but the gap is sizeable.

I saw this map of electricity prices earlier in the week - not disputing that there external forces controlling the market, but this country seems to be disproportionately hit. upload_2021-9-23_5-35-2.jpeg

Yes, British Gas are very reliable. I've only been waiting 9 months for them to fix my smart meters. Latest is, they say they'll be out in a fortnight! They've been saying that since last December. I don't have any trouble supplying them with readings though. As a last resort, open a "chat" on the website and give them the relevant information there.

Yes, but you need to be careful with 60 min spot, they do not form the so called wholesale price, and very much reflect very short term demand. Its back at £153 for the next 60 mins. Peak time spot is up because of the fire on the inteconnector. Limited import from France. French nuclear and German, Dutch and Scandinavian renewables will temper European prices downward, relying on just in time gas with virtually no storage will push UK prices up. Not unusual for German spot to go negative overnight as wind output exceeds demand. What that does show however is that the market works in the sense that the Europeans have arbitrage to supply the Uk, but the volume of that is limited by interconnector capacity. There are the inevitable effects of leave as well which were well documented and are currently evident, and were expected to raise power prices due to leaving a larger more efficient system. The interconnector outage will continue to heavily weigh for 12 months as key imports at lower cost from France are restricted. Had EDF not been both supplier in France and retailer in the UK, ditto E On for Germany, this could have been much worse, as its only the presence of those in the European system that leaves the UK with any voice on its essential electricity import.

I have been with Avro for four years, took meter readings photo yesterday.
The money I saved per year, approx £300 will no doubt be recouped by British Gas or whoever I'm dished out to, now it's the waiting game .. :(
    Update edit ..
I've checked Avro's website again. .. We're here to help .. Popular Articles a list of all the advantages however

Avro Energy is ceasing to trade. Ofgem, the energy regulator, is appointing a new supplier for its customers.
Customers need not worry, their supplies are secure and domestic credit balances are protected.
Ofgem’s advice is not to switch, but to wait until they appoint a new supplier for you. This will help make sure that the process of handing customers over to a new supplier, and honouring domestic customers’ credit balances, is as hassle free as possible for customers.
Support and advice is available on the Ofgem website for both domestic customers and non-domestic customers. Alternatively, if customers need additional support, they can call Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133 or email them via their webform. Advice will also be shared on Ofgem’s twitter @ofgem and facebook channels.

We are with Bulb, so we are expecting to be given the shove to another supplier soon :(

We've had 2 x begging messages in the last few days, along the lines of "You are currently £xxx in credit, but your current direct debit may not cover your bills this winter. A one off payment of £xxx will top up your account and help avoid any changes to your monthly bill."

I am reading in this thread that it's a good idea to photo record meter readings. What the reasoning for this?

I've been with BG for 40 years and with the exception of one BIG 'mistake', I am satisfied.

Thinking about this, I can see the problem with estimated readings, direct debit payments and the provider going bust. I understand that balances are transferred to the new supplier? But what is the correct balance with the old supplier in the case of estimated readings. Maybe paying by direct debit to any of the smaller suppliers is not advisable and the 'cash is king' principle is the only way to go?

I was with PFP and just been moved to BG sadly.
This was preceded by moves from Yorkshire Energy, Together Energy and another who all went bust...

Bulb are trying to source emergency funding and also Igloo who have been talking to the sane firm as Green Energy before they went under - so I don't think Avro or Green will be the last ones :(.

Compare the Meerkat recently removed it's switching tool as there weren't enough meerkats to provide a difference!!!

So far six energy suppliers have gone bust in September with two more feared to be on the brink of collapse.

PfP Energy, MoneyPlus Energy, Utility Point, People’s Energy, Green and Avro Energy have all entered insolvency this month.

Bulb and Igloo are also reportedly on the brink of folding, according to Sky News .

In fact, industry experts have warned that another four companies may go bust before the end of September, leaving another one million customers in need of a new supplier.
