1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Hmmm well the taking things from a bin (which is probably fit or consumption ) and will only end up in landfill shouldn't be considered a crime and fair play to them . But they had " broke in " or entered locked property so can understand a slap on the wrist but not a court appearance . Think ofit this way , if you heard some disturbance outside your house or in your garden , went out and there was a few guys who'd climbed over a fence or a locked gate and they said I'm just looking for food you probably wouldn't be too pleased .

I personally think the police & the CPS have far more pressing things to waste their time & taxpayer's money on than 3 guys rummaging about in a Biffa bin for semi-defrosted party-sized sausage rolls and valu black pudding but hey, maybe the chancers that flaunt their theft in our faces (step forward ye highwaymen from the financial institutions) deserve to be cut a bit of slack now the economy's booming again......

We've never had it so good - frozen steak pies for ALL my friends.

This kind of waste makes me furious, my mrs used to work at ASDA in the bakery, every evening she was ordered to dump hundreds of loaves of bread in the skip, after seeing this going on for a while I urged her to approach the manager with a view to us taking the 'waste' to the homeless shelter and Salvation Army on our way home each night!

The answer was a resounding no due to 'health and safety'.... This is bonkers considering it's the same food they price bust to 2p per loaf and nobody has bought by closing time, still has days left before it would turn!

I agree with you. It's good enough too sell it at the till just an hour beforehand, but not ok to give it away a few hours later because most of these managers don't have the balls to say "Aye alright then" . Health and safety ott is one of my biggest pet hates.

i recall a month or so back, cant remember who but a famous chef complaining about the amount of good food going to landfull, in the end he and some others rummaged around bins for fruit, veg etc and ended up cooking a good old meal for some store owners/managers etc.

they all said how good the meal with starters and desert tasted, he then went on telling them some truthfull facts about just how much decent food is wasted when theres so many living in poverty, cant recall him being charged or even going to court, anyone else see the program?

    Think it was Jamie Fat-tongue.

It's an absolute disgrace the amount of food that's wasted by stores and, ultimately, the consumer. I have no problem with anyone doing a skip-dive in order to rescue perfectly edible food that's been lobbed out by shops but it beggars the question some have already asked: why not just give the stuff to people that can and will eat it. Health & safety nanny nonsense.

dont get me bang on facts but something like 1/2 million people now rely on foodbanks, there is countrys abroad where people are dying, we have volunteers here who feed homeless etc.... me and my missus was just talking about this on friday, did the shopping and we had a bag of packaging to throw away, in this day and age wouldnt you think that we could cut down on all wastage? and if someone was doing no harm and stopping things going to landfill then so be it, they must be desperate enough in the first place to do it

Most managers will claim it's to do with use-by dates etc....

I saw a documentary where a guy went dumpster diving and made meals of the food he scavenged, even the chicken which was well out of date and smelly didn't make him I'll, he ate rotten fruit, mouldy bread and all sorts and no sign of the trots!

Any food we have that becomes out of date my mrs will not serve to our family, I make a meal from and eat it alone. Never been bad from it whatsoever!

I'm the same Steve, a Cheap-Shelf Wallah here. Whatever's bought from their is either frozen when we get it home or is eaten on that day or the next, or a couple of days after. S'all good.

The use by dates have to be on food by law and normally the producers put it a few days early too to stop people sayin it was off before hand , I personally don't bother with em but if something's got a fur coat on it in fridge I'll chuck it !
