1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

I find ebay staff as untrained in air gun matters! In all the years ebay has been running, you would think they would know the difference between a air gun and fire arm!!

I had one of my safety catches removed because according to them, i was infringing there ebay policies. I informed them that the safety catchs are for an Air rifle and is not a section 5 part and relisted. They then sent me a email telling me they have reviewed my listing and it was because i had listed a number of different models in the heading and it could be seen as SPAM?. So i write back and informed them that the safety catch would work on all three models. They then advised me that i should also put this in the description, so thats what i also did.

Today i get a email telling me, that my selling rights have been infringed as I have put this sentence in my add “can make brass safety catches for other air guns also, please contact us with details”

There reason behind their actions is, that they believe, that I may be trying to sell outside of Ebay and i should put contact me through Ebay and that would make it ok!!!

I think i will close my account down if this keeps happening as I cannot be asked to educate a bunch of morns, which don’t even want to apologise for their mistake or even accept they were wrong. I feel that i have to reword all my listings, just so they know what I am selling!

At lest you've been able to get on there ... it looks as if eBay has been down at various points during the day and can't find any news about it and they are not responding to messages ... anyone else having problems ?

If you were making them millions of pounds out of your Saftey Catch then I would expect them to listen to you. But there not and they do not wish to have any greivence with the government. So this makes you a very small fish in a very big ocean.

Why not just advertise no here and other well known gun sites, as I know of one member on here who does.

Yes you’re right but if we all stick together and boycott them they will be forced to make changes.
Ill look into advertising on here too but there’s allot of people that are not member of any clubs, who would come across products whilst looking for other things on ebay. I have made allot of sales, from across the world that i would loos out on.
The next thing for me is to have a website made up and sell from there perhaps.
If we all contact them and tell them they will be forced to listen.

Good luck with that, if a million people said they would leave they still wouldn't listen, there are billions using it and so they make a fortune.

Is this a Royal 'we'? Ebay constantly muck people about and if we don't like it we don't have to use it. Afraid they are too big an outfit to worry about a few hundred air gunners.

It's that 'we' again. I don't have a problem with ebay myself. They are a useful method of finding what I/we want.
When I used to collect knives, they wouldn't let me bid on knives from the USA, which i might add can be legally imported into the uk. I didn't throw a strop I simply changed my recorded location and kept my postal address the same. The wanted knives flew across the pond! Sometimes you have to think outside the box.

As mentioned already, just sell on the airgun forums where your target market is.

Its not just my items there stopping but other on here too, i haven’t broken any laws, nor do i intend to.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I've no issue with eBay and have no reason to boycott them. I understand that you may do world wide sales but it's a drop in the ocean to the company. They have soft wear that will flag up curtain words, reference or phrases.
Type in Theoben and there is everything for the rifle without mentioning gun, rifle ect.
You just have to play there game and find a way round it as its only you really that is loosing out, they don't care.

I agree with you Andrew but they infringed my selling rights because I put up a statement in my add saying "we can make brass safety catches for other air guns also, please contact us for detailers"

There reason they gave was because i side "contact us", that i am trying to sell out side of ebay, this is what they actual side!

All I’m saying is that its not right, what they are sometimes doing and they should be trained better.

You can say contact me for allot of resones it surly doesn’t mean you’re selling out side of ebay.

Agree eBay staff don't know their arse from their elbow but at the end of the day it's their selling platform and their rules, you sign the agreement to abide by these rules when you sign up! :)

They are not infringing on any of your rights because you can change selling platforms and sell elsewhere, even on your own website!
