1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Seem to be getting more bicycles with small ice motors fitted round here, make right racket and have their own smoke screen coming out the back.

I chose that version as my comments refer to this area!

I chased one of the wheelying idiots, pulled out in front of me and wheelied off, with me an inch behind his rear tyre, the look of horror he had when turning round, to see my grinning gob was priceless. Don't drop or stop son, my reactions have got old. From a life long biker, don't do it, it can really hurt.

    :roflmao:

In all seriousness though be carefull, a friend of the wifes grandfather spent 6months at Her Majesty's Pleasure, and received a ban for having a 'discussion' with a cyclist who hit his car. (All a bit suspect IMHO)

For a brief moment of fury it doesn't seem worth it to me. But good luck to him in that case, seems harsh to me.

Oh no, the magistrate referred him to the crown, and he got sent down. Certainly harsh, and some underhand tactics against a 70+ Yr old.

What sort of "word" did he have to qualify for a sentence like that?

    Thanks @Lostkiwi

"In the wrong hands a car is a weapon and that is precisely what it was in your hands."

    As the judge said.
Couldn't put it any better myself.

Too many aggressive idiots on the road, using their car as a weapon - usually just threatening or intimidating rather than actually deliberately attacking others.
Thank whatever you choose to believe in.

He got off lightly, in my opinion.

The same is true for anyone - the vehicle wasn't used as a weapon, he'd got out the car and gave him a hook.

Should have been an assault charge, not Dangerous Driving. ;)

"Judge Edwards was told how Hanley had used his 4x4 Jeep Cherokee to knock Morgan, who is now aged 18, from his bicycle and then got out of his car and punched the teenager in the face."

I would have gone as far as attempted murder to be honest. Deliberately knocking someone from a bicycle can so easily end in death. No sympathy whatsoever for the arse.

if you deliberately knock someone off their bike by using your vehicle then it isnt .... "having a discussion"..., in the very least it is some form of assault,

He should have got a much stiffer sentence, he got off extremely lightly in my opinion.

I'm not saying the driver was innocent, but being privy to both sides the cyclist was no Saint, with a history of aggression. The claim for damages on a pushbike worth £1000's that was gifted to him, and worth £100 tops.

Assault yes, the dangerous driving charge was a stretch, with only questionable witness testimony. I mean how can you testify you saw that the 4x4 was 2ft from rear wheel of the bike, whilst keeping a distance of 2-3 cars, travelling down a twisty country road? Have they got Xray vision?

The offense wasn't reported through channels available to you and I, and witnesses were approached.

There was very little, if any physical evidence of the dangerous driving, but a photograph of the assault. It was he said, she said, on the using the vehicle as a weapon, he even voluntarily went to the police who found no evidence of damage.

I am not saying he is innocent, an assault charge I could understand, but it was manipulated into something more.

Quite possibly - the courts are instructed to hammer anything that smacks of vigilantism. The Establishment fears people power.

I think the "personal" relationship between an officer, and the mother of the victim, her access and misuse of personal information through their employment played a role too

Known for it unbiased reporting, the cause of the fuel shortage.;)

Back to the original post though, it does demonstrate how quickly it can escalate.

Regardless of what occurred, I think the dangerous driving charge, and sentence came a shock for him, and his legal team.

I would be interested to know the value of the bike , seeing as you say it is worth £100, i am presuming you know the make ,model etc, the fact that you say it was gifted to him makes no difference what so ever.

I would imagine it did, he probably expected to walk from court scott free thinking, well... it was only a cyclist.
