1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Has anybody used the Prometheus dynamic pcp2 pellets in .22?
They sound good in the description but they all hype themselves up.

I've got a hw100 currently using jsb exacts.

I'll go against the grain on this one and suggest you try them, the absolute worst that could happen is they are inferior to the JSBs and then you've only wasted a tenner or so,on the other hand, they might be better and you've got a new favourite pellet :p

My last outing took 17 rabbits with the HW100S using .177 8.5gr 4.5 head hft defiant pellets. They group really tight. Before that I was using H&N FT.

Just purchased some .22 defiant pellets for my Webley raider. 14gr and 16gr both in 5.52 head size. I am going to try them today.

Sorry Bob you are wrong on this bit...only for shotguns firing multiple projectile cartridges. Single projectiles do not come under the legislation at all.

If your HW100 is normal power I will back Bob over the Defiant thing. Quite the most accurate pellet I have ever tried in anything - and shot them through several different barrels now. They DO fly better, because they don't heamorrage velocity as fast as "conventional" waisted pellets - also worth trying the ogive version. The Defiant 14s are one hole at 50 yards, as in all overlapping each other. BUT there are two things you need to persevere with before you get to that stage (and many give up far too soon).
FIRST you need to get the barrel clean - either scrub it by firing Defiants through it until they have cleaned it out and conditioned for them (might take as many as 200 shots, it took me 140-odd)
SeCOND You need the correct head size for your barrel, they come in three sizes. I tried all three, the L size was one ragged hole at 50 yards (11.5 Ft-lbs) The M size gave about a 4" group and the S size were scattered over an A4 sheet! Put the l size back in, absolutely bang on again.

Defiants are well priced too - they are a nice compound of lead and give a little deformity on impact with soft tissue. Energy transfer is very acceptable. I haven't tried the Ogive version yet, but the aerodynamics are better again according to a couple of friends who put them through their rifles and now won't use anything else.

As Matty saidd, don't fall into the trap of becoming blinkered or bigotted towards one pellet. It is fun and interesting to try other pellets - and their characteristics. I think many who deride certain pellets simply haven't fully tried them in all their varieties. AA Fields come in different head sizes, so put the wrong one in and you will also get poor results.
