1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

being a fan of sci fi and the like, its on my 'watch list'. i think though, that the program has lost its way. i don't know if its the new doctor, or the scripts, but this new series has me stumped. there appears to be more than a passing influence from other shows/films in this series, and each episode leaves me disappointed. i keep watching though, in the hope that things may change.
is it so, or just me ?

I must admit .....the last one had me confused for a little while....but I do think the new Doctor is settling in quite well. I do think that the plots are becoming so interwoven that important bits can be missed if you didn't see the episode being referred to. Its noticeable that the scripts come from the Sherlock stable!

It always seems to me as though TV programmes like this always have to try and keep up with the times. They try too hard and get too flashy and a bit ott !

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of dr who but the last few series have left me a bit meh ! Maybe as I'm old now I don't find them scary anymore lol :)

Even if the new doctor does turn out pants and I didn't like the last one at first He's got a bang tidy assistant so it's worth watching for her.

I've never been a fan but Matt Smith and secondly the dude from the Virgin advert were excellent as the lead character.
I think it's simply that this new fella is very much the wrong choice.

I used to live with a Who fanatic and we watched almost every episode of the old series and I do prefer them. The problem with Eccleston onwards is that they have 50mins to tell a story rather than 30mins once a week over 6 or more weeks. This means that everything has to be resolved and there are no cliffhangers - ergo there is a lack of drama.

I don't dislike any of the new Who choices and I especially like Capaldi simply because I wanted to see an elder Doctor from the off. However the scripts are pants and no amount of dressing up and filling with "Who-fan-****-factoids" will disguise it.

For me the series should do two parters as a matter of course. The two best stories I've seen were both two parters and had fantastic cliff hangers. One was David Tennant v The Master and the thrumbing sound - can't recall the story but it was a seasons climax. The other wasn't just a brilliant Who story but outstnading drama which I recommend even non-Who fans watching. It's called "Human Nature" and the Doctor has to hide himself as Mr Smith in a boarding school during WW1. The hiding also includes wiping his memory of all time-lord knowledge. To date its the only Who story based on a novel and its utterly superb. The ending had the whole room in floods of tears as it was so heartwrenching.

I also rate the audio stories far more than the current TV series, the ones with Paul McGann are especially good - if anyone deserves a longer TV stint its him. Even the McCoy stories are good.

Nope, your spot on, I've had this conversation with several people, the new Doctor/character/show has definitely lost the plot, or at the very least found a poor one.
