1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I knew a nurse who was admitted to hospital with whatever the ailment was, when the doctors were doing their Ward rounds, she would insist on getting dressed in smart clothes for the doctors consultation. She said that by getting dressed she wanted to be on the same level as the doctors.

I have always dressed smartly with a short haircut and mostly with a collar and tie, I have done this since I was sixteen years old in 1966.

Years ago I would put on a tie on just to go out for a paper. I’ve mellowed a little these days but still wear a tie whenever we go out shopping, to the doctors or the Hospital.

I have always felt more comfortable in a tie than without it, I also wear waistcoats sporting my pocket watch and fobs.

It’s just the way I am and I don’t think that I will change now.

    Regards.
    Les.

As true today as it was back then.

I have three wardrobes, summer, Hawaiian shirt shorts and sandals, Winter, jeans, trainers and a jumper and smart which I try and pick an appropriate level.

All 3 of them are what I feel comfortable at the time.

Years ago, I wore a suit and tie, every day to go to work. These days, pretty well never. I do like, like Lev a nice waistcoat and Albert.

Yep i'm not one for facial hair myself. Small neat well trimmed beards are okay but these long shaggy unkempt beards look awful and you never know what might have taken up residence in there or if there's any food particles in there.
My father used to say the only reason some men grow a beard is because they're to lazy to shave.

I don't give a flying f??k what Joe Public think, their thoughts will neither enhance nor detract from my train of thought or influence me in the bloody slightest. I have had a beard (sometimes quite long, like present) I do what I want to do and to Donald Duck to the ignorant, ill informed.

Her's a recent pic of Crikey Mikey with my most favourite granddaughter. (the only one)

Agreed. Watching 30 and 40 somethings shuffling around in tracksuits gets me. Some of them even wear flat caps to top it off!. I mean, for christ sake, get a ******* grip. Make an effort.

The trick these days is not to confuse style with slobbiness.
I quite like seeing a variety of styles, it marks us out as individuals.
If I see scruffiness I will instantly judge you until I know you.
I have to represent a company to customers so need to look smart and professional. First meetings are always a scrutiny and depending where you are in the world the old establishment still thrives, particularly ex-colonies.
Appearance crosses over to personal life and the only time I don't wear a collar is for diy and gardening.
I admire the dress of old. Gentlemen and ladies looked so much smarter. And they all rocked hats. I like hats.
Remember style never goes out of fashion and fashion is for sheep.

Yes if it's one of those neat well manicure/trimmed beards perhaps but not if it's one of those long shaggy unkempt affairs that are not looked at from one day to the next apart from checking to see if there are no left over food particles in there.:)

Your appearance does affect other people's opinion of you and their first impression.
But once they get to know u their opinion of u can change. Our appearance is after all only superficial and can change.
Personally I have always hated ties, going back to my school days I think.
As a plumber I was pretty casual and workmanlike in dress.
As a surveyor I wear shirt and trousers but no tie.
I only wear a tie if I'm in court, at a job interview or a funeral.
When going out I tend to stick to smart casual, eg shirt or smart polo top and trousers.
When slobbing round the house it tends to be shorts or jeans and a T shirt.
When fishing I hav been known to wear a bit of camo.
When shooting I tend to wear jeans and T shirt or shorts in summer.
When motor biking I have full safety clobber on.
I've always had short hair and no beard, too itchy!
I rarely worry about what other peeps think of my appearance. Life's too short and all that....

    I’m 6’2” and 28 stone... been a biker since I was 16...

ive had the ‘avoidance’ thing by general public many times.

funniest one was when a little girl shouted out ‘look mummy...funny men!’ At me and my mates enjoying a brew at a road cafe...

mother replied ‘don’t stare darling. They might kill you...’

    :eek::eek::eek::confused:

I’m a big teddy bear really.

    and love cats..
