1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Well I just managed to snag myself a Umarex Colt SAA in the 7.5 inch barrel, the blue finished version to match the 5.5 inch blued one that I already own, I've been after one for a good while now and just didn't want to pay the full price for a new one and every time Wild Bill posted a picture of his enormous 7.5 inch monster it made me wince, so I have been trawling the Freeads, Gun Trader & Gunstar pages for what seemed to be an eternity, but happy days ! I finally found one in great condition.
So I thought that I would pop to the Umarex sight just to tease myself about my new gun whilst I wait for it to be delivered, whet the appetite - so to speak, just so chuffed that I finally have one and ......well (takes a deep breath), they've only stopped making them !!! Yes, that's right Umarex only manufacture the 5.5 inch version now, so I checked a few online sites and sure enough, no stock ! The only place that I could find some was Pyramid Air in the good ol' U.S. of A.
I am so bloody pleased that I finally got mine but it begs the question did anyone else know this nasty little fact about our favourite six shooter ? If the answer is yes, then why did they not post a warning to all the rest of us ? The very first time I saw the 7.5 inch version I remember thinking to myself, "Hey, maybe wait until they release the Buntline special, cos that will be so cool"...... dammit ! No chance of that ever happening now I suppose ?
Personally, I am a bit gutted that the grand 7.5 inch Colt SAA came 'n' went and nobody even noticed.........:(

(please note: Yes I do live under a rock and only get out from under in an irregular fashion so if this is common knowledge and I am just 'late to the party' (so to speak) then please just ignore my rambling monologue)

Nice one. I love the blued versions but I don't like how the blueing rubs off and turns a goldy colour. I have had two of these now and both of them suffered with the blueing going gold. If you don't use it too much though it will look great. I love them. :thumb:

I was looking to getting a stainless steel 7”version a few weeks back from my rfd and he said they could only get the 5” version as they were going to stop making them , luckily I got one of these from the next nearest shop

Bill, just apply some Birchwood Casey perma blue to the areas and then oil. It will bring it back mate.

Used mine quite a bit, not just shooting but for the good ol' gun twirling, pistol spinning shenanigans and the blue is just as good as the day I got it, cannot see any faded areas at all...?!? But if it does I will remember the advice GarryT gave out about the birchwood casey gun blue as that is something that I always have to hand, so I will give it a try if needed.

Oh and btw, I have just elected myself to the position of 'El Presidente' in the "na na nanna I've got a 7 'n' arf inch Colt SAA" club, all new members are welcome and just require a picture of said gun to be posted to this thread for a full lifetimes coverage, no membership fees as all owners had already paid their dues......in full.
Wild Bill is an honorary member along with Colin80, as these fine fellows are never slow at getting their 7.5 inch weapons out to show everybody and anybody at the very first excuse, as if an excuse is actually needed.

For many years I felt so incomplete with only 5.5” length but was afforded the chance of stretching to 7.5” a few months ago. Unfortunately after learning to use such an impressive addition it suddenly went into limp mode and is currently awaiting surgery.

As a general guide, it appears you'll get around 3k rounds before issues arise on these.
Issues tend to be sear to hammer interaction wear, trigger spring and hammer spring. The hammer springs have been known to fail under 500 rounds.
To reduce the sear wear, use some moly grease on the interacting surfaces. It does not run off like oil and the moly has a tendency to burnish into the surface reducing friction. You should also put some on the pawl and cylinder star wheel to do the same, and a small smear on the front of the chambers where it seals against the forcing cone. It will all help to increase reliability somewhat.

Good advice, as a rule I always strip down all new guns, clean and lubricate all internal parts with gun grease and I use silicon grease on the silicon/rubber seals and forcing cones (mainly because of their plastic nature). I have found that it makes the actions much smoother and also stops me from worrying about them from the extensive use I put them through. Coincidentally, the hammer spring on a Dan Wesson 715 can fail early after about 500 rounds too, which seems to be a manufacturing fault (as they all snap in exactly the same place) but I just remake them with a better quality spring steel on a jig I designed.
As I've always said, to be a CO2 replica firearms user you need to be prepared to 'work' on these little beauties from time to time, servicing & repairing them as and when needed. It's all part of the fun to me anyway, I do love a challenge......:)
