1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Don't get hung up on it - just don't go back :)

If you need any guidance in the future pop a thread up on here. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience, and unless you venture into the sales section it won't cost a penny :)

And everyone agrees with each other all the time!
    So no room for confusion.

Some folk on here are very keen on getting a bargain - fair enough.

Personally, I am not so bothered - not because I am rich!

But having what I want, in my hands and being happy with it is what floats my boat.

The "Riflescope" products I bought on Ebay were fine to get me started.

Later I bought some used, higher quality scopes but I still can't shot any better.

Maybe sell your old scope on here and recoup a bit on your new purchase..?

Thing that gets me about the thread is that no one knows what this particular scope offers or even looks like but based on price must be crap.

Compare the new scope with your original one. If it's no better, take it back and ask if you can swap it for x amount of tins of pellets (worth £70+)

    Not quite true, not everyone.

    I had a few Riflescopes.
    One of them, IIRC, was a 3 - 9 x 50

They seem fine for the money - to my eyes - but £70 is a tad steep, not a rip off.

I disagree. I have taken issue with the fact that due to the character of the guy he spoke to, the OP felt somewhat obliged to buy something after seeking some advice. A purchase that he wasn't necessarily comfortable with, irrespective of whether the scope itself is value for money at the price he paid.

At least you had the opportunity to look through it and it was better than what you had...so on that score it was an upgrade.

Did you pay a little too much? - possibly a little - but none of us can see what you see through it and if it's brighter than what you had, fits your needs and tracks OK all at a price you could afford - then it wasn't a bad purchase was it?

Out of interest, what did he help you out with?

How to get stuck pellets out of your barrel?
    https://www.airgunforum.co.uk/commu...-to-get-pellets-out-of-my-phox-barrel.357204/

Or did he sort out your pump?
    https://www.airgunforum.co.uk/commu.../filling-a-gamo-phox-with-a-hand-pump.357109/

To be fair if you didn't buy rifle or pump from him I can understand him being a bit reluctant to sort either out for nothing.

The pump...checked it all over and found that one of the bolts connecting the whip to the pump needed to be a bit tighter. Also gave a bit of advice.

Seems that most gun shop owners are a bit grumpy?

Think scopes are a bit of a minefield.
Not saying you don’t get what you pay for but if your like me going to be plinking or at the range or but if vermin.
My max would be 40yds more likely 30.
I don’t think that you need to pay an arm and two legs for one?
Of only been back into the game for coming into 2 years but I’ve bought a few rifles scopes night vision range finders etc. And sold as many as a move on

non of my scopes were new most recent ones were an MTC and a Hawke think they were both around the £50 to £70 Mark. They were boxed and came like new.
They seem good enough for me.
Just before 2nd lockdown I was at the range got talking to bloke who was well into the game.
He had a fully sorted HW100 with a scope on. That I think had a 40mm tube (not 100% sure but bigger than 30)
I looked through it and if I was honest it did look a little clearer than mine nothing really but I could tell the difference. he then told me it was £2,500 worth of glass. I shuddered in case I dropped it.
I think as you get nearer the top end there is less improvement for a lot more money.
No doubt his scope was better than mine but £50 to £2,500 is large wedge of cash...

Our local shops will always struggle to match online prices …. And some struggle to price match other gun shops who have better buying powers….
But if we don’t support them they will vanish …. you will always find on here someone got it or could of got it cheaper
    … that’s life
Every single member on here imo has learnt the same lessons when buying kit.
Ask questions … read articles…Check reviews (user reviews) Shop around …. Would a s/h purchase be suitable ?
But if you can offer a gun shop your regular business ….if it’s the right gunshop …. Your custom will be valued and you will be treated fairly.

I wouldn’t dwell on your recent scope purchase …
    @Smiler123 has offered a great suggestion … the shop doesn’t lose a sale …
And you will use the pellets …
    (If they suit your rifle?)
Avoid the cheap nasty ones if offered … and if offered … then avoid the shop !
